Very pleasant staff made me feel at ease. Comfortable bed, nice room. Good 3 course evening meal.
Rubbish internet and the hair dryer didn’t work.

Good breakfast options: the Continental components were delicious.
Excellent quality bedding and towels
Friendly helpful staff
Clean, comfortable room

The breakfast had limited choices, no cereal, no fruits and only 1 toast provided per person with only 1 cup of tea.
No fruit juices either.
The bedroom was extremely cold and the bathroom window had been covered with a towel to try and block draughty cold airflow.
I itched the whole night and had to look for a towel to cover my body to try and minimise the itching and shivering.

Tasteful, modernised bedrooms, nice bar and restaurant
1.0 / 10.0
Extremely poor quality breakfast on both days. Room was not refreshed even though a member of the team said he would ensure housekeeping were informed; cups and saucers were not cleaned/replaced. Administration is non existent. Complimentary biscuits were not replaced. There was no slip mat in the bath, a critical requirement when showering. The (cheap plastic) loo seat constantly moved around. The manager said he would fix this whilst we had our evening meal. It was no better!

Large comfortable rooms, a gigantic bed all the expected facilities. An excellent restaurant. We enjoyed a great supper and breakfast.
Logging into the wi-fi involved givving your date of birth with very cumbersome data entry.

Location
It’s very convenient, the food is a decent quality.
They didn’t seem to have much of a stock of wine, for some reason.

The Easy access into Derby ,the hotel offered all amenities I required for an overnight stay ,plenty off street parking easy access to rooms from Bar/Restaurant. Good selection off beers and good range food on offer on the Menu.
Slow service in the bar area from the taking off my order using the app ,to it being served 30mins for my main course ! Then after finishing ,I had to ask a passing member off staff for my Desert .
I understand that this is a busy time off year and the Restaurant is busy ,but it appeared to be a lack off staff which meant that the bar area for food wasn't adequate look after as priority was the restaurant

Location, On site restaurant and parking
Bed was awful in old major room. Extremely firm mattress, you could hear the wind blowing in the dorma window and it would rattle the door and the other window you basically had a choice of fully open or closed.

This was our 8th stay here and we have been regular visitors for years. The food has always been amazing and the staff usually can’t do enough for us. Unfortunately, on this visit the food was just okay. There was nothing I could particularly complain about, but it simply wasn’t anything special, which was disappointing as the standard has always been much higher.
It felt like we could have had a similar meal elsewhere for a lot less, which was a real shame given how consistently good the food has been in the past.
That said, we will 100% be back. One disappointing visit won’t put us off, but I felt it was important to be honest about our experience this time.
Having stayed in almost all of the other rooms here, we decided to try the suite on this visit. The room itself was spotless but disappointingly chilly, which wasn’t helped by the radiators being positioned behind the curtains.
I went downstairs to ask about the log burner. There is a lovely log burner in the middle of the room that you can see from the bath or the bed – a really nice touch. The lady I spoke to said she wasn’t sure whether we were able to use it, but assured me she would check with management and come up to the room to let us know. Unfortunately, no one came.
It seemed odd to have such a lovely feature and not be able to use it, especially in the suite. We didn’t complain that evening but asked again the following morning, only to be told again they would need to get back to us. Once more, no one did. This isn’t the level of service I have come to expect, as I have been staying at the farmhouse for several years.
The bathroom door was also loose and did not close properly.
That said, I would like to add that this was a one-off experience. We have stayed here many times before without any issues and have even bought stays as gifts because we have always been so impressed. so hopefully things will be better next time.

The staff were all super friendly, we ate dinner in the restaurant which was lovely with great service and breakfast the following morning was also superb. The rooms were spacious, warm and comfortable although I would say I ended up with a family room and when I went up to bed it was positioned over a noisy part of the pub below so if you were staying with children it might not be conducive to a sensible bed time. All together a lovely stay at a great price and much nicer than the usual 'Purple Palace'.

Cobwebs in bedroom. Kitchen extractor fan making a very intrusive continuous noise outside bedroom window, started at about 6 am and stopped after 9 pm

The bedroom was a bit tired but everything was clean
8.0 / 10.0
Breakfast and dinner were extremely good plus the service was both friendly and efficient.
The bathroom was cramped and difficult to use as the angled steps were tricky causing us some concern. The toilet seat was too small and shaky. The steps up to the bedrooms and on the restaurant we're something to made us very cautious. Some of this could be due to the age of the building as fitting a lift might not have been possible.

Zoe and team were lovely and tentative. Lovely cosy room.. heating was on on arrival so was nice and warm in the room. Quiet sourroundings and good facilities in the room. Breakfast was superb.
Could do with a tall lamp in imediate corner of room just to make it a little brighter in the evening without having to have the main light on.

We booked a deluxe room. When we checked we were told we had an upgrade. Went to room allocated, which was a family room The room was large and clean ,
However when we settled a banging noise was evidently upsetting as it was continuous. After an hour or two went downstairs to complain . They stated that a lady had banged her head and the ambulance was in an attendance . That didn’t explain the continuous banging, by this time the pub/ lounge area was full . They said they couldn’t move us as they were full and didn’t offer anything at our disappointment not to be moved . We then made a decision to leave. Obviously the room was located just above the entrance to the hotel. So any coming and goings was heard in the bedroom above

The restaurant was very nice. Lovely breakfast and evening meal at very reasonable prices. Service was good especially as the restaurant was busy.
The room we had was not so good. Very small and not very clean, carpets needed hoovering and cobwebs on walls needed removing. Repair jobs needed on the room and bathroom needed a deepclean especially the walls in the shower which were dirty. Basically room and bathroom needed upgrade and modernising especially when charging over £100 a night.

The staff were great. Service was good.
Our 1st room had a broken toilet seat and no tv remote. We reported it and were immediately moved to another room, which was very good of the member of staff to do. However the new room had a much smaller bed, the shower screen was quite mouldy around the seal, the plug didn’t fit in the bath so the water just drained out and the music was very ‘basey’ from the bar area. Although this did stop at 11pm without fail.

The overall venue itself was beautiful, staff were so polite and got us checked in right away!
We didn't see our room until we got back from the wedding we were attending (perfect for the night if you're at Grangefields) and we were blown away. The room was enormous! It was so clean, well stocked with amenities and the bathroom was huge too.
The bed was so comfy and again - huge! Amazing value for money.
The night entrance was clearly marked out and signposted so it was easy to get to our room after the closure of the venue.

Clean, well equipped, spacious room.
Give a very poorly situated table for evening meal, despite having booked in advance. Very annoying to see ‘walk in’ customers being allocated larger, better situated tables.
Service was slow but acceptable. Food ok.
Limited breakfast choice. Incredibly slow service given that we were the only diners. The avocado was diluted with sone unknown ingredient which was not mentioned on the menu.
