Pleasant accommodation in one of the main streets of the town, with free parking close by.

Tate House is a pleasant house converted into accommodation. it is well located in one of the main streets of.Alnwick. It is opposite a hotel, and a big advantage is that the hotel provides free parking for guests of Tate House.

A negative for someone guests is that there are no staff on site when one arrives late in the day.

Lovely comfortable few days in beautiful Alnwick.

Very comfortable and central. Lovely toiletries and snacks with the tea and coffee.

Room 3 on the top floor had a little separate snug and a separate bathroom. This wasn’t really a problem but there are lots of small flights of stairs between each which wasn’t ideal

Very smooth & enjoyable

Parking & access instructions very clear. Nice bed, shower & very comfortable. Great spot from which to explore rest of Alnwick, short walk from pubs & restaurants. Also Castle & gardens literally round the corner on right bottom of street before arch.

Very small gripe is that the blind doesn’t fully black out & then bit fiddly to raise & lower

Adequate for our purposes as a base, perfect location.

Perfect location. Quiet room with extra touches, hubby loved the boiled sweets.

A mattress on the floor in the shared lounge was not ideal. On the first night our bed was definitely the worst I had slept on during our east coast trip! On the second night the ‘lounge’ mattress had disappeared and hopefully it was now in room 1, as we had a much better sleep.

Nice accomodation and good location

The location was great, the owner also assisted us with where to park our car. The entry and access instructions were easy to follow, The room and bathroom were clean and modern.

Our bathroom was outside our room so we were not sure if it was shared. There was no coffee or tea making facilities or fridge that we could locate. Also we did not know if we were the only ones in the house, this made me feel a little uncomfortable.

Alnwick is a lovely little town with lots of good bars and places to eat

Very comfortable bed that was made up for us the next day. Very clean room and bathroom. Looks like the room was recently refurbished.

Heavy traffic made the room shake. The little fridge wasn't that good with a bottle of white wine.

Great location. Comfortable rooms, beautifully clean and well presented and included balcony overlooking the back garden. Great to have dressing gowns.

We were in top room - everything there but the bathroom and tea making were outside of the bedroom and meant going up and down a few stairs, which we weren’t aware of when we booked. Which could be tricky for some people.

Great option if you’re just stopping through or planning a short stay in Alnwick.

Really clean and neat, easy self-check in. Tea and coffee making tray well stocked, bathroom had all products you would need if unprepared.

Stunning property. Highly recommend, value for money

Room with en-suite was immaculately clean. Comfortable bed. Little extras were a lovely addition. Can not fault this property and we would stay again. Great location only a short walk into town centre, where there is a good mixture of shops, restaurants and cafes etc. (If you enjoy Thai food, restaurant called Leo was amazing). Short walk to Alnwick Castle.

Highly Recommend

Everything, we really enjoyed our stay and will come again. Welcoming, lights on and room, clean and fresh. Refreshments tray with high quality tea, coffee, biscuits, water, chocolates and sweets much appreciated with fresh milk in the kitchen. Bathroom toiletries excellent, sounds daft but decent loo roll and good sized bath towels . Good location and pre arrival instructions excellent, parking good and recommendations for food excellent. L

Nothing, the road noise was noticeable as we live in the country but not an issue. Privacy blinds would be a great addition if upgrading in the future for the rooms on the front so curtains could be open for light but not a dislike.

34 steps to get to the 2nd floor and then 3 down to the bathroom ( not en-suite!) I obviously didn’t read it properly as my partner is challenged by stairs with a weak left side! It was hard for him but we managed them together.

Well situated. Lovely room , tastefully decorated . Little snug to sit in and have the door to the balcony open to let fresh air in. It was a hot day!

Probably should have chosen a room with an ensuite. It disturbs your sleep too much when someone needs to use the bathroom, having to unlock the door to go to the bathroom outside the room.

Small but compact and comfortable

Our "Small Room" at the Tate House certainly was small, but it could also be described as "compact" as it provides the essentials in a small space. Indeed both my wife and I found it "comfortable": the bed, the shower, the storage space, the window were all small but satisfactory. The room was quiet, in part because it does not face on to Bondgate Without. The room was nicely serviced each day; that included fresh towels. There was an effective window shade which kept the room reasonably dark despite the early morning (04:30) sunshine. There are many cafés and restaurants nearby. The Wi-Fi worked well. Parking was not a problem as the town of Alnwick makes available free parking less than ten minutes distant on foot.

The "Small Room" would not be suitable for persons with mobility limitations. It would also not be appropriate for large persons or persons needing space to exercise.

Very central location in Alnwick which in itself is a great base for exploring the many beautiful places around Free parking just across the road at the pub which was very friendly Easy self check in Room very spacious , nice large bed , good en-suite Exceptionally clean and well presented with lots of extras provided , tea / coffee, biscuits , chocolates etc Use of fridge downstairs so we had proper milk for our drinks Daily servicing of room meant that each time we returned after a long day out it felt fresh clean and tidy and tea coffee etc all replenished Owner easy to communicate with via messaging

If there was anything at all that could have been an issue there was some road noise as on the main road through town .However it was quiet at night as as we were early risers each day it really didn’t bother us!

The Tate House is in an excellent location for visiting sites. The rooms are beautifully furnished and very clean and comfortable.

You have to eat outside of the rooms, but there is no table next to the bench outside, so it is challenging. The parking was somewhat difficult to find.

A spacious , clean and comfortable room in a central position.

The house was very clean and comfortable.

Nothing. Everything was fine. Our only difficulty was with Booking.com who kept messaging me to say my card didn’t work and that our stay was cancelled. This was after I had directly messaged Mr and Mrs Watson who assured me my card had worked. Someone, I assume Booking.com, also cancelled the event in my phone calendar. We were not impressed. Thankfully, the owners were helpful and reassuring.

Disappointing and not good value for money

Excellent location, very central and room was comfortable. Plenty of parking across the road in the pub car park.

Lack of housekeeping. Stayed for 3 nights and the room was only cleaned/tidied once . No clean towels were provided although I found one spare towel in a cupboard. Bins not emptied after the first night.

Location.cleanliness.communication.Snug and balcony.. liked the room only system.

It was not made clear just how awkward the steps could be to anyone not good on their feet. Radiator in snug was difficult to turn off and seemed to turn itself back on! No decaf tea or coffee. Fridge in kitchen did not dispense ice but just worried and growled. It did dispense cold water.
