Camping Lamego Douro Valley

Fabulous site with 2 appartments and a kitchen. The other appartment was not being used so we had a nice big area to ourselves. The site is busy and pleasant with plenty of motor homes on site and lots of people to chat too. It was still not noisy at all even with all the people there. The owners are lovely people asking more than once whether everything was okay.

Everything was fine although the pillows were way too soft for our liking. Luckily I had my comfortable pillow in the car. The double bed was comfortable but only just big enough. A bigger bed would have been our preference.

Maria was a lovely host - bright, friendly and very helpful. She made our time checking in and at the outside tables a special and relaxing interlude in our day’s travels. She is a real asset to a well run and maintained facility. Although we were not camping, we do camp extensively at home in Canada and would stay here both as guests of the inn and as campers on the grounds. The location within walking distance to the Sanctuary and to the town make this a great alternative to a normal in-town hotel. Simple dinner service delivered from town is a nice touch.

Most travellers don’t pack coffee pods, so if you are going to provide a machine in the kitchenette/lounge for room guests to use, put some pods in their rooms. Plus some tea bags please… Especially if you don’t have morning coffee/tea available in the snack bar area. I wish they had kitchen staff to allow for breakfast on site but late September is perhaps hard. But coffee would be appreciated…

Location

Really best suited to campers. The two bedroom property we stayed in is located above the shower rooms and cleaning facilities, which is not ideal. If the main building is ever made into a hotel which I believe the owners plan to do, then this would make it a much more enjoyable proposition.

Atendimento muito familiar, embora não pudéssemos fazer o check in mais cedo, pudemos deixar as malas e fizeram o check in antecipado por nós. Muito limpo e acolhedor. Casal muito simpático
