Arenal Oasis Eco Lodge & Wildlife Refuge

The property is in the forest, so it’s lovely to hear and see wildlife sounds. It does mean the individual small houses are quite dark inside. The beds are comfortable and the restaurant is great to have on site with lovely servers.

You get what you pay for, so the rooms are very basic ( which is fine) but don’t expect luxury, it is quite basic.

Arenal Oasis was a beautiful spot in the middle of a nature area just outside the town of La Fortuna - so know you need a car to get into the main area of Fortuna if you stay here. It is more of a rustic spot, with individual cabins, but you go to enjoy nature. Staff were so lovely and friendly, and the grounds were fun to explore. The onsite butterfly observatory was a standout! We did the night walk on site which was a lot of fun - had a great guide that showed us tons of frogs and snakes. Tico breakfast was tasty - american options were just ok. Only had snacks and drinks outside breakfast but they were delicious and reasonably priced!

We knew this was more of a rustic spot going in, but we would have maybe stayed 1 or 2 nights less, as we had already explore the whole area easily in our time spent here. Bathroom was ok, but definitely dated. We only had a bench to sit outside on the porch of our cabin and would have like more comfortable outdoor areas to sit and wait out the rain. You couldn't go on the onsite trails after 4pm without a guide, which felt like a way to sell tours.

Great all around, suggest the frog tour. Highlight of our trip
