Unprofessional staff ruin holiday mood upon arrival, location is near disgusting “Nicotine Beach" :(

Not much, checking out ASAP.

Totally unacceptable attitude from the staff during check-in. We were approached by a young employee, speaking to guests three times his age, who asked to make a copy of our passports. I refused, as this is something no professional hotel has ever asked for. Because of his poor English, he turned to the receptionist, who came over in a confrontational way. Instead of letting us explain that we do not agree with copies of our passports being made, she immediately argued and put herself in the role of the victim. She even claimed she was obliged to keep a copy “in case the police asked for it,” which is completely unprofessional. Such a statement insinuates that guests would somehow be involved with the police. According to both EU law and Greek Law, it is absolutely not required to hand over or allow a copy of one’s passport. Pressuring guests into something the law does not oblige them to do is a very serious matter, and it is incomprehensible that staff handling such sensitive data are not aware of this READ(!) Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the Greek Law 4624/2019

Stay in Halkithiki

Parking was not an issue for the car. Was able to walk to the nearby beach bar. The room was clean. But the room was tight for a family of 4, especially if they are late teens. The kids had to be separated since one twin bed is in the main bedroom with the double bed, and one twin bed in the entrance. For a short stay, it's manageable.

I didn't like the sleeping arrangements for the kids, especially when they are going out. Would have preferred the kids to be together.

Overall good

Good location, close to the centre. There is a good supermarket close by and the beach is a walking distance, maximum 10 minutes walk.

On and off WiFi, kitchen poorly equipped, no parking on the property, if you are lucky, you find in the street close to the property, otherwise you have to park on different streets

Appearance

Beds and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. The air condition didn’t work properly. We were a family of four and we were only allowed 1 toilet roll per day. The towels were replaced every 3 days. Complained about the air conditioning problem in the apartment and as a replacement we was given a fan which was battered and probably over 20 years old.

great place! hosts were nice and would help if needed. rooms are clean, spacious and have all that you need. housekeeping is done on a daily basis and is good.

just the wifi, it was really important for me due to work obligations to have internet access.. however in my room there wasnt any signal. they told me its their provider, but as a tech person, i identified that the problem for me wasnt speed.. it was lack of wifi signal, which can be solved with instalation of either another router that connects to the main one or by a plug in amplifier routers that would guarantee good signal coverage in all the rooms. when i was in the lobby or near the wall and had signsl the internet was fine. but nevertheless this isnt so important as to people go for vacation there, but as a foreginer not having data plans in roaming, was a little incovinient.

The staff was really kind and helpful. The rooms were clean, they had a beautiful garden and the water in the pool wasn’t cold so we managed to get into it. The location is perfect - the beach and the centre are close to the hotel. We will come again.

It will be better if they have mosquito traps or something that prevents them entering the room.

I really liked the hotel. Great location, lots of taverns, restaurants nearby. The biggest store in town is a 2 minute walk away. The sea with the best beach is also very close. The beach is perfect for kids. The hotel area is very well maintained, beautiful lawn, clean pool. The room has everything for a comfortable stay. Cleaning every day, everywhere is very clean. The staff are always helpful. Very grateful for the hospitality.

in total it was good because we didn’t spent much time at the room do it was enough

it was pretty close to all the shops, bars, restaurants and beach.

it wasn‘t totally clean. the service for cleaning never cleaned the floor, only made the bed and changed the garbage. the shower in our room was broken but we stil could hand to shower somehow.

Bathrooms could be renovated - shower I particularly. Door shower rather than a curtain which was not long enough and water was always on the floor after it. There was a smell coming out of the toilet - maybe bleach type of product could be used daily for cleaning it.

Great place to stay at.

I stayed at the Melis- the studio with terrace for 10 nights with my 2 years old son, my mother, sister , 7 year old niece , 5 year old nephew. - Extremely clean place. -There is a jacuzzi, very clean swimming pool, nice grass field where kids can play. -The kids and also we slept great during the night. Rooms were air conditioned , cleaned on a regular basis. - Centre is 2 mins walk away- great when you're with kids like us or just tired from the beach. - If you have a car there's also nice close by places you can explore. - Nice restaurants with delicious food around. - Beach was nice sandy with clean water. - The owners of the hotels are very good people who take care of their business with their hearts. - The receptionists are also lovely and very helpful p.s I would suggest if the stay is with kids book the Studio with Terrace because the grass field is just right next to the terrace where the kids can play while you have your morning coffee or whenever, also you don't need to go up and down the stairs - it's just lot more conformable. We would definitely recommend this place!

On the way back from the beach here's a little steep heel but it would be the same with any hotel you stay at unless you're front line.
