A superb stay! Glorious location overlooking Esthwaite Water with links to Beatrix Potter who stayed here for a period, editing Peter Rabbit. Tranquil, beautiful views and wonderfully quiet due to minimal through traffic along the quiet, winding roads. Glorious English country house decor. which is inviting and quietly understated. Superb food! The three course dinner is a must do! A gracious, dryly humorous host in Richard and wonderful staff who are warmly welcoming and will assist in any way they can. This is a taste of an earlier time in English hospitality and not to be missed!

The Breakfat was very good although there was a shortage of some items. Dinner was very good but very much over priced at £68 and they even charged extra for the coffee after dinner
