Burton Farmhouse

I arrived in the middle of a heatwave. The room was insufferably hot but fortunately I had taken my own fan and was able to sleep. There was tea and coffee in the room but no other meals were offered. It is a period farmhouse adapted for letting. None of the electric sockets have USB outlets, so guests need to be advised to take adaptors. The shower does not have a thermostatic valve and the temperature was difficult to regulate. Otherwise OK

Better signage would make the property easier to find, It is vey obscure from the main road. The staircase is poorly illuminated and has a turn in it, making it difficult to negotiate with a suitcase in your hand.

Great location. Excellent value for money. Comfortable room (though rather like a sauna on the two hottest days of my stay)

As mentioned, room was extremely warm overnight - a fan would be a handy addition. Smoke alarm battery needed replacing on the floor below - the 'chirping' low battery warning noise was audible for most of the stay. Minor niggles on an otherwise lovely stay.

The beds were very comfy and luckily in this heat we had 2 very good windows that let a breeze come through them. Good you could just come and go as you wanted. Nice beach and pubs near hope cove.

Bit too old fashioned style wise for me, very small tv for the size of room. Fridge didnt work even though I asked what number I should have it on. Alot of food I brought got thrown in bin and couldn't freeze my ive packs when we went to the beach so gad warm drinks. Roads are not the best, 1 way dirt tracks, had to reverse loads sometimes quite far. Didn't really see the host and you felt a bit like you were going into there home if you went further in. The playground for kids was no good as it was too hot for the slide, but know where for adults to sit and watch, again felt like you were in their back garden. Just wasnt for me but got us out of a hole as we had booked somewhere else which was terrible. This was not, just not sure its worth £150 per night.
