The staff were friendly. The breakfast was good, although some muesli would be a nice addition. The room was a good size and clean. The hotel is close to the town centre and the station. There is very reasonably priced parking just across the road. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay.
One of the mattresses was very uncomfortable.
There are a number of maintenance/health and safety issues. The ceramic tiles on the bathroom floor were uneven and mobile in places. Electric socket by the bed was loose. Nails on the back of the wardrobe sticking out. Torn vinyl on the settee. No bedside lamps.

Great location for the Piece Hall and the free parking was a bonus. Our room was lovely and clean and comfortable and the bathroom was massive! The staff were all helpful and friendly. The breakfast was plentiful and replenished constantly.
It didn’t seem like enough staff were on duty. When we arrived there was one staff member checking people in, fetching irons, running the bar, answering the phone, the poor guy was rushed off his feet. When we returned to the hotel in the evening there was no-one on reception at all and a fellow guest who had locked themselves out of their room couldn’t contact anyone on the ‘out of hours’ number. That said a business that offers a value hotel has to find the cost savings somewhere I guess.
