Great location and lovely bed and room. A bit strange having the bath in the middle of the room but otherwise no problem. Delicious breakfast spread. Would recommend!

Nice for a shopping weekend

Sluis is good for shopping and just some minutes to the beach (by car). The room was cosy and I had a tasty steak at the restaurant. Typical guests are >60. Breakfast was good.

"Online CheckIn" doesn't give you any benefits. WiFi was not good - esp. in the evening. The closet was pretty small. Not enough parking lots for all guests - but public parking (5-10€/24h, see picture gallery) is around.

Breakfast is wonderful. You should try dinners also. Their kitchen is very strong and experienced.

They have a very good car park but there is no reference to it being behind the hotel. I parked in the public car park first and carried all the luggage to the room.

Loved it, great hotel with very helpful, friendly staff

Room, location, staff, quality, quantity and price of food - brilliant value

Only drag was the car parking, we got there early evening, no space in hotel car park so had to use next door public one, €8 for 24 hours, not covered by hotel, still given the overall excellence and this being a common occurrence in UK, not much to go on about.

Superb

Last year we went to have a drink at the hotel, not staying there. We started talking to the lady who owns the hotel and explained that we had a terrible hotel ourself and how we liked the hotel. After some chats she invited us to check out the rooms and how everything is remodeled. Just the friendliness and warm feeling of the hotel (de paauw) kept us thinking to book a room. This year we went back to Sluis, booked a room and had a great time staying at de paauw hotel. very friendly staff, amazing room and very close to the city center. We stayed for diner and took the option for the menu, everything was very nice. Once we came to the dessert, we decided to reorder it because it was so good. props to the chef! Breakfast was a more limited selection but non the less all the best ingredients where present. Morning crew was very friendly and after our check out, we decided to go shopping and came back for another drink. Would stay at the hotel again!

We paid for a superior double room with lake view but were given the standard room without refund. No reply at all from the staff.

All in all, our stay was very lovely and we would definitely recommend the hotel.

The location in Sluis was excellent for walking, shopping and dining. It was really very nice to just walk out the door and stroll down the street. One can easily walk to the fish market, the windmill and any number of cute boutiques. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and went out of their way to provide extra services. We enjoyed the tasteful peacock (Paauw) theme/decor. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was spacious, which isn’t always the case at a hotel. Beaches could be reached easily via car in less than 15 minutes. The amazing city of Brugge, Belgium can be reached in just under 30 minutes by car. All in all we really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Zeeland. Sluis is a lovely city.

The hotel parking lot is fairly small, so the spots were usually occupied. However, extensive public parking is available (for a small fee) right next to the hotel.

Good hotel and restaurant

Very welcoming, comfortable hotel with a good restaurant in a lovely location.

It's worth highlighting that, for many people, the restaurant closes early-ish (we arrived a little late so wanted to eat at 8pm). They did their best to accommodate us though, and we were given a limited choice of food, which turned up to be very nice. A better place to lock up bikes would be good too.

Classy place in a lovely little town

Bedrooms are really well appointed -- 5-star quality, actually.

Breakfast only starts at 08:00 and we had to be away by 07:30 so we got a small packed lunch which was OK but not the same. In keeping with all the other local restaurants, you can't get a bite to eat after 9pm!!!

Now the best in town - without doubt.

View of river and town from front rooms is best in Sluis. Hotel has had a major upgrade by the newish owners. Breakfast is varied and plentiful. All staff are happy - always a good sign. Hotel now has a very good lift.

Car park is a bit too small for number of rooms. However for 4 Euros per day (not per visit) there are plenty of public car parks; next door, across the road and at the rear.

everthing. this hotel is real value for money and in the best location for Sluis. Good breakfast and relaxing atmosphere lovely front to sit and watch the world go by have been coming here for years and still love it.

A relaxing and enjoyable stay in a well run, modern and friendly establishment in a perfect location

A perfect location next to the canal and a very easy walk around the charming town. The room was modern and clean with all the facilities you need. The staf were very friendly, good evening meal and an excellent breakfast. Couldn't ask for more.

My wife's only complaint was that the lighting in the bathroom mirror, where the magnifying mirror was mounted, wasn't good.
