Anita, her family and staff are wonderful people . We stayed 6 nights, watching the starry sky and then northern lights from just where you lay was splendid. We saw the northern lights more or less almost every night. Food, the room, nature... everthing was pretty good. We had no problems.

Fantastic property, great amenities , amazing food and more than anything else the people running the place are just so sweet, kind and helpful. we wished we had just stayed here for longer. We witnessed the Auroras everyday that we were there

The location is perfect. Step out and witness the nature's Magic. Wilderness at it's best. Facilities are all on point. They have the warmest staff and coziest room. Food is delicious. I'm glad I made bookings here. This place is so good... I would like to live here. I took single room... the bathroom was said shared on booking.com... but it was a dedicated bathroom for me. No sharing.

Superb Stay! The most attentive hospitality we have so far ever had on our travels from the hosts and staff, so kind and friendly, Constantly given great advice for things to do and went above and beyond. (Love the option of the Whatsapp group that is set up to tell all guests whether there is an aroura near. The restaurant food was delicious, praise to the chef, little expensive but expected. Location was gorgeous, nice and quiet and perfect place to see the aurora if you get the chance! Definitely suggest hiring a car however, not ideal if you want to travel everywhere by foot. We did the husky safari (incredible, please give our warmest regards to those owners) and the feeding of the reindeer (Emma was so attentive and stuck with us for a little while talking with the reindeer and about how different life is in Finland) I recommend both these activities. We also went snow shoeing which we also recommend, super fun and gorgeous scenery. Rooms were perfect! we went for the private bathroom, everything is so clean wow! and the Wifi is excellent even though we were in the middle of nowhere! I would definitely come back to see everyone again, thank you so much.

The only thing we can point out from the whole stay was that the beds were a little uncomfortable, more so the mattresses are quite solid and hard, to sleep on so we did not have a great sleep while we stayed but we did not mind! everything else positive outweighed!

Everything was perfect! Amazing location where you can enjoy the nature and wilderness. Very cozy accommodation, nice and clean and also warm during the winter! Adorable people, words cannot describe them, you'll miss them right at the moment that you leave there! Delicious food! And also fun activities with good guides (like snowmobiling with a perfect instructor).

Cute rooms, clean, friendly staff. We arrived 3 nights early and adjusting the booking was no problem. The birds in that area like people and come really close. They were sitting on our heads and fingers.

The host family was super kind and nice. They have a very smart dog and cats. I saw Aurora here. Also, the food made by Anita was so delicious! The price for one person was quite reasonable. The Sauna was great. It was perfect and I will definitely come back!

I like everything about this place and definitely going to stay here next time I'm in the area. It's a good spot to see a northern light, and in fact, the only night that I saw the northern light for the whole trip. The staffs were super helpful, and friendly! They helped us in every way they can. They even offered me a hat as they noticed that I lost my hat. They also taught me how to use the aurora forecst website, and add me to their whatsapp aurora alert group. The cabin layout is perfect. A kitchen was well equipped. A sauna added perfection to our stay after running in and out to catch the northern light. They also have many activities to offer. We did a reindeer ride with them but it was quite slow, and not what we expected. Snowshoeing is free! Feel free to explore the area by foot. The reception is a small cafe. They served a delicious hot chocolate. I also notice that there's a bus running passed the hotel. Seems to be convenient for those who don't travel by car.

A bunk bed is too small, narrow, not too comfy, no view.

The apartment

It was very difficult to say goodbye to Giellajohka. Going to the northern part of Finland and staying in such a beautiful place was the best decision ever. I was welcomed by a warm-hearted lady, Anita who explained what we could do in the neighborhood, went on a reindeer safari with Jouni and of course witnessed the northern lights which could easily be seen right from our bedroom window! We need a camera to shoot the best aurora images and unfortunately we don't have one. However, we were very lucky that Giellajohka helped us to take a picture of me and my friend with the northern light for free!! They even they even lent us warm clothes and boots, so we didn't get cold while enjoying the nothern light. I definitely recommend this place for everyone who wants to see Aurora in Finnish Lapland and experience winter activities. The location is quite remote making it perfect for seeing Aurora. You don't have to pay for a tour, just sit and relax by the riverside which is right next to your bedroom and watch the aurora dance above your head. The food was also very delicious. Everything! The guesthouse was cosy and clean. Anita and Yoni are amazing hosts, they are very kind en helpful. The food in the restaurant is great, also for vegetarians!

Absolutely nothing

We really enjoy staying here! The location is magical, easily accessible (even in winter), the kindest host and her dog, amazing breakfast, our cabin was like home, clean and comfortable.

The only thing I didn't like was our short stay (just one night).

Everything was beyond our expectations. There is a cozy diner at the entrance, where you get served breakfast. You can see the aurora from a teepee, with a fire inside. There is a reindeer yard and we got to see a white reindeer. The lady hosting the place made us feel at home, and explained to us the meaning of the place and their logo. Definitely 5/5.

Amazing friendly host. She greeted us with a smile, guided us each day on what we could do.The area has great hikes and a nice lake for Auroras if you're lucky. The room was warm, had a great kitchen and was a decent size

Amazing stay. Highly recommended

The house was just amazing. We were lucky to see northern lights in all 4 nights we stayed there, the best part was that we could see them from our bed through the glass wall. It was quite cold outside but the floor heating was superb and the fireplace amazing, also had a heating/cooling unit. Kitchen had everything you need and the bed was cozy and bedroom had enough storage.

We stayed in a stunning one bedroom house, almost all walls were glass walls. Few very minor things, not a problem but just something to consider. The lights could be dimmable lights and the bathrooms shower could have shower curtain, maybe smaller sink and more space for other things.

The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful (when I was leaving they even gave me tips on how to see the northern lights that night, and I saw them!). The food they cook is delicious, go have a meal there! The rooms and cabin space are very cozy. Just chilling there was very pleasant. They have a beautiful corgi and some cats too <3

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt in der Giellajohka Unterkunft. Die Lage ist einfach traumhaft – mitten im Nirgendwo, absolute Ruhe und Natur pur. Genau das, was man braucht, um abzuschalten. Besonders schön fanden wir die familiäre Atmosphäre. Man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und ein bisschen wie zu Hause. Das vorbereitete Frühstück war mit viel Liebe angerichtet – fast so, als würde man bei Oma und Opa am Tisch sitzen. Einfach herzlich und gemütlich. Ein echtes Highlight war das Eisbaden im Fluss sowie die Sauna – ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Rund um die Unterkunft gibt es Rentiere, was die Atmosphäre noch besonderer macht. Außerdem werden viele tolle Aktivitäten angeboten, wie Rentierschlittenfahrten, Huskytouren, Snowmobile-Fahrten sowie die Rentierfütterung. Hier ist für jeden etwas dabei. Insgesamt eine ganz besondere Unterkunft für alle, die Natur, Ruhe und Herzlichkeit schätzen. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und kommen gerne wieder.
