Good Location

Good Solid Mattresses and generally very clean and well maintained.

Washing machines in basement are a bit complicated. An “eco” wash takes 2 hours and there’s no way to cancel a cycle.

It was fine

Staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is located right in the city center. Easy check-in. Plenty of stores, restaurants and bars around. The room was clean and generally fine. Breakfast was ok for the price.

The bathroom was quite cold, no heater there. Also, the water pressure was low. The walls were very thin and we could here everything in the other rooms, bathroom, etc. It's ok for a short stay, but no longer than that.

Perfect location, great price, very comfortable beds. Bed linen was immaculately clean.

The need for ID needs to be highlighted in emails, we were not aware, luckily we had pictures. Room floor and windows could have been cleaner. The lock on the door of 314 wasn't working but we didn't discover that until 1am, when going to bed.

I've used the generator before and am very happy with it access to overnight parking close to public transport and walking distance to the cobblestone, an Irish music pub .the staff are very friendly and helpful. I'd requested a lower bunk bed, and it was reserved for me it is very good value for city accommodation .

Perfectly situated for exploring, this was a truly excellent stay

The atmosphere of the whole building was just what I was looking for! Meeting new guests from all over the world singing karaoke, playing pool, shuffleboard while having a drink any night made the stay even better. The staff was very polite and helpful at all times of day or night. The facilities were very well kept and exceeded my expectations. Great stay overall!

There is not much I didnt like about my stay. The only minor issue I had was my room smelled of body odor similar to a gym locker room. However I was staying with about 5 or 6 other male guests so I cannot entirely blame that on the lodging. No other issues.

Bad stay

Mixing male and female together in one room ,that is very bad. The two staff I met on my first day was horrible,they were at the reception, they were so rude and sarcastic with the way to approach customer service.can imagine the security told me he will throw me out of the building when I was try to tell them I am the only female in mixed of 2 men,that I need a space where I can be with my female cantaerpart.First impression matters alot,the orientation they gave that day was ,maybe ireland are not kind,whis is very bad.after that set closed by 11 pm the set that that take over was very good.

Great value, good location, no frills but private dorm safe and convenient

Great location in a cool area not far from all the main sights. Hostel is nicely designed. Staff were very nice on our late arrival. We had a private dorm for the 3 of us (me plus two teens) plus dog. Wasn't noisy but a Monday night so maybe different other times! Towels available, toiletries provided, bedding clean and comfy. Good set up for teens with plugs and bed lights etc.

Bathroom not spotless but...it's a hostel. Corridor noise but nothing too bad or unexpected.

Great Location

Location was great.

There was no shelves in bathroom to put our things. We got a private room for just our group. It was a hassle to get ready with nowhere to place your bathroom essentials like toothbrush, hair gel, etc. Also one of the lockers couldn’t even be opened due to being too close to the bathroom door. The bathroom has a lot of space to put some shelving, also no electric plugs in the bathroom.

Fast but comfy

Very strategic position in the city, quiet at night and with many food options in the area. Super comfy beds and good storage space in the rooms.

The karaoke was too loud, it was fun for a bit but then some guests started leaving the common area for the noise. Also the usb chargers in the rooms didn't work forcing you to buy an adaptor at the reception.

We loved our time at the Generator- thoroughly recommended!

Central location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Especially Lucas at Reception but all staff were kind and took the trouble to be as helpful in whatever way we needed. They went the extra mile. All Essentials were there at a very reasonable price. Dog was warmly welcomed.

This hostel obviously caters to a younger crowd, with a bar area and lots of fun activities. I was a bit worried that I would hear the nightime noise, but was pleasantly surprised at how well sound proofed it was. I went to bed early as I was tired from a day of travelling and heard absolutely none of the noise from the bar or lobby area. The area is fine, close to a Dublin Express bus drop off point which was a big plus. I stayed in a female only dorm, and the other people staying were also quiet and respectful of the others in the room. There are a few dining areas right across the way. Staff were friendly and helpful

Like many hostels in Ireland and Europe, the rooms get quite hot and stuffy and night in the summer. They did provide a room fan, which really helped. It isn't quite as central as some of the other locations but just a short 10-15 minute walk into the action.

Disappointing Stay – Not What We Expected

The bedrooms were clean and of good quality. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were well-maintained.

Many toilets were unusable due to loose seats and broken locks. Showers were extremely dirty and in poor condition. Taps were not properly fixed and felt unsafe to use. The food was disappointing: black and white pudding were hard as rocks, the egg was burnt, sausages were dry, and the bacon was soggy and greasy. The bar and common areas looked nothing like the photos on booking.com – furnishings were worn and outdated.

Noisy hostel vibe for €1000: drunk guests, sticky floor, no towels.

Location

Despite the high price, the place felt like a noisy, spartan hostel with bare-bones facilities. Drunk guests were shouting and banging on doors all three nights, and there was no noticeable intervention by staff. It didn’t feel safe, especially for a family with children. Towels had to be rented separately, and overall cleanliness was poor. The toilet was difficult to flush, and there was no table in the room to put personal items on.

A hostel only suited to loud parties

Location

Poor level of cleanliness in room and bathroom. Very Very noisy due to bar, karaoke, and a bunch of about 20 guys running through the corridors, shouting, roaring, and banging various bedroom doors (including mine) until about 4am. Staff did nothing about this. God help any families with children ( and there were some). This hostel is only suited to parties. It's not suitable to guests who want/need to sleep at night. There appears to be no noise curfew, and any behaviour goes.
