Point A Dublin, The Liberties

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, there was a very strange and uncomfortable emphasis on security which, rather than making me feel safe, left me with the distinct impression that I was not wanted, welcome or trusted as a guest. The gentleman stationed at the door was particularly unpleasant in his interactions. Every time I left the hotel and returned, I was asked for my name and room number, despite the fact that he clearly knew exactly who I was and which room I was staying in. I am certainly not an anonymous or forgettable guest, and I interacted with staff throughout my stay. His manner was consistently stiff, cold and unwelcoming, and the repeated questioning became incredibly uncomfortable. The lady behind the desk during the evening was, unfortunately, no better. There was very little warmth, genuine engagement or sense of hospitality. The overall interaction felt rather robotic and transactional, with none of the natural welcome or professional guest experience I would expect from a hotel. The hotel itself also falls considerably short in terms of basic facilities. While it is clearly a relatively new property, fundamental things are missing. There was no iron or ironing board in the room, virtually no wardrobe or storage space, and the bathroom had essentially nowhere to put personal belongings. There was no practical space to unpack, organise yourself or actually feel comfortable during an overnight stay. The walls are also exceptionally thin, making for a very unpleasant night’s sleep, with noise carrying far too easily between rooms. The bed itself was equally disappointing, with a very noticeable dip in the middle. Overall, this was not an experience I would repeat. What should have been a straightforward overnight stay instead felt uncomfortable from both a service and facilities perspective. I was so dissatisfied that I have since cancelled a forthcoming stay at another property from the same hotel group during an upcoming trip to Edinburgh. For me, this simply does not meet an acceptable standard of hospitality, and I would not return regardless of the price. There are plenty of hotels where a guest can feel both secure and genuinely welcome; unfortunately, this was not one of them.

Staff very welcoming

We had two rooms and were quite surprised by how tiny they were, especially for the price. But the location was great, allowing us to walk to most of our points of interest. The beds were hard and the pillows gave us both neck knots. There was good security after dark, so that was comforting.

Stayed 1 night, great price in comparison to others on that date, right side of city for us & 5 mins walk to temple bar/Grafton St areas. Small compact room, but well kitted out with tea/coffee, safe, & hangers on wall rather than wardrobe. Good hot shower. Staff very friendly & helpful. Would recommend & will def return. Thxs
