Hirschen Backpacker-Hotel & Pub

Great location, easy to find, affordable.

The room was fine. As well the owners were very friendly and helpful, as we needed to check in earlier and we had this opportunity.

Was little bit noisy as there is a bar down there. Though the rooms space is isolated and it’s not too much.

The location is great and easily accessible by public transportation. The price is quite affordable by Suisse standards, and the shared bathrooms were spotlessly clean. The room was fine, and the heating worked.

The beds and pillows could use an update. At least the Friday night we stayed, the hostel wasn't well suited to a family. There was a live 80s rock cover band in the pub that is connected to the hotel. It was so crowded with partying drinkers (standing room only) that there was no way to get dinner there. The band was still pretty loud in our room and played until 11pm, so my son didn't get a great night's sleep before skiing the next day. It's a nice place for 20- and 30-somethings to crash (living up to the name of backpacker hotel), but I would have some hesitations about bringing a family there.

The staff were lovely and gave us loads of information! Very helpful and friendly. Showers had good pressure and kitchen was well equipped! Good location for stoos ridge, bus stop close by which takes you to the cable car.

The issue was the noise! We stayed two nights and barely slept both nights due to a lot of noise. I’m not sure if this was due to our rooms location (we were right next to the shared kitchen), but we heard every door close, the road noise and people on the street at night echoed, the windows were pretty soundproof, but we had to have them open as it was extremely hot in our room. Whenever someone used a tap around us the drain in our room would start croaking. Two very disruptive sleeps which meant energy was low for our hikes.
