Located near a beautiful river with rapids! Backing onto a rainforest - very beautiful.
Lots of steps- especially to get down to the restaurant area.

This is a gorgeous place. We had a villa with a private pool. The spa was excellent. The view over the river were stunning. We were shore to arrange tours to wherever we wanted to go easily and affordably. The staff were kind and fantastic and they always seems to know where we were, so our room was always cleaned every time we left it.
It is about 30 minutes from Ubud town with traffic, and almost 1.5 hours from the airport. This meant we are at the restaurant every night. Which was fine, but a little limiting. They do run a free shuttle to town twice a day

Breakfast was lovely, with lots of choice and food from the restaurant was likewise very good. I can recommend the nasi campur! The riverside location is beautiful and offers an awesome place to chill out and relax, especially if you book one of the brilliant massages. All of the staff were lovely and very helpful and even surprised me with a birthday cake! Both my partner and I loved our stay.

Great location with spacious villas that come with private pools. The main pool and bistro overlook the river and jungle, which makes for some impressive views. Staff were friendly and polite, and the overall vibe was relaxed. Breakfast was included, and since it was off‑season, the value for money was solid.
The bistro prices felt steep compared to local shops — a small water bottle was $4 AUD versus 35 cents at nearby shops. The shower head didn’t work properly, with several holes blocked, and the bath tap released dirty water. The toilet and plumbing weren’t great, often needing multiple flushes. Flying insects could get inside, though that’s to be expected given the setting.

Fantastic private villas with great restaurant, stunning location next to Agung river & massages by the waterfall!

We had an issue with the room I booked vs the room they allocated. It was resolved promptly and we were upgraded to the royal villa. Boy was it fit for a king! Felt like we were in the middle of the jungle, over looking the river and was so peaceful. Room was serviced twice daily, breakfast was included and not buffet but a la carte with a great selection. Food was lovely and staff were exceptional, especially Riski, who helped us out with our room issue and much more.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, relaxing stay this place is it, just avoid the villa named Katalia, it has no view from outdoor area and in need of a good waterblasting.
Suksma to all the amazing staff, we had a fantastic time!
My only suggestions would be for the restaurant to change up the music, it got very monotonous and boring. Cleaning staff need to replace all dirty items. Facecloths were never replaced nor were cups and glasses. Windows in our bathroom were filthy but may be because they weren’t expecting guests in this villa so hadn’t been done.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of staying at Villa Semana in Ubud for a few days during my honeymoon and it truly exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality that immediately made me feel at home.
The property itself is stunning—nestled among lush rice fields and overlooking the Ayung River, it feels like a private sanctuary. My villa was beautifully designed, blending traditional Balinese charm with modern comfort. The private pool and serene views made it hard to leave the room at all!
The staff were exceptional—attentive, thoughtful, and always ready to go the extra mile without ever being intrusive. Every detail, from the welcome drink to the personalized service, made the stay feel so special.
The restaurant deserves a mention as well—every meal was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with the setting making each dining experience unforgettable. Breakfast by the river was a highlight of my trip.
What I loved most was the sense of peace and privacy—while still being only a short drive away from the heart of Ubud. It truly felt like a hidden paradise, perfect for relaxation, romance, or simply reconnecting with nature.
I can’t recommend Villa Semana enough. If you’re looking for an unforgettable stay in Bali, where luxury meets authenticity and tranquility, this is the place to be!
I loved everything! One thing to note is that as the villas are in nature, there will be a lot of nature and bugs so be aware of that if you are scared of that but I think it’s worth it in terms of being so authentically in the middle of the forest.

The room and grounds were beautiful.
The tub in the bathroom looked dirty and the water and hand held shower didn't work. You had to take a shower outside.

The rooms and amenities were very nice 4/5. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. The cooking class we did was one of the best activities we took part in during our trip! The staff and the chef were wonderful!
Considering the price, I wish everything was included. Lots of extras here and there which was slightly annoying. Better to lump it up in the original hotel price is my personal thought. Hotel to city pick up and drop off happens only twice a day. It’s easy to get a local “uber” so not too bad but again, wish it was included in the service.

The nature and setting of the resort

Semana Ubud offers a peaceful retreat with beautiful natural surroundings and attentive service. The property has great potential, providing a serene atmosphere for relaxation. While some aspects of the stay could be refined—such as the cleanliness of certain areas, room amenities, and breakfast variety—the overall experience was enjoyable. The staff was accommodating, and the tranquil setting made for a refreshing escape. For sure, I will be returning to experience it again. With a few improvements, Semana Ubud could truly be an exceptional getaway.

Amazing resort in the middle of the tropical region. It's so peaceful and serene. The staff is friendly and super cooperative. I especially loved the breakfast along with the view.

Words cannot fully convey how truly wonderful our one week stay was at Villa Semana! It is truly paradise on the Island of the Gods! The staff were exceptional!! I stayed with my son, who is special needs, and they were so wonderful with him. He keeps saying how much he wants to go back - so do I!! Our villa (Cempaka) was amazing, luxurious and roomy with everything you could want. We both had our own bedroom and bathroom, as well as our own private pool (all 10 villas at Villa Semana have their own private pool). It is simply the most relaxing place I have ever stayed (I read 3 books in the week I was there)! The view from our villa over the Ayung River was so beautiful and serene! Breakfast was fantastic, served every morning at the restaurant overlooking the river! There were so many different choices (I had a different main dish each day) and I always found it quite filling. I also loved the Bali coffee! We looked forward to breakfast every morning! We also ate dinner at the restaurant every night (except one) and the food and ambience was absolutely wonderful. The daily complimentary afternoon tea was something we looked forward to as well! We also had a couple of incredible massages at the Semana Spa, which is located right on the river with the most serene and relaxing atmosphere! Dewi, the guest relations manager, also arranged for me to take my son to a doctor. They made everything about our stay so easy! I would like the thank all the staff, especially Sudiani and Budiani in the restaurant, and Dewi, as you all looked after us so well and made us truly feel like part of the Semana family! We will definitely be coming back!! My favourite place I have ever stayed!
Nothing. Everything was perfect!

Stunning grounds. Lovely spacious bungalow.
Quite a distance from town centre. Would not have been such a problem except for very heavy traffic.

Perfectly situated by the river. Beautiful view of rice terrace farm. Lovely grounds that are painstakingly maintained by a dedicated gardener. Generous with complimentary welcome drink and fruits, afternoon tea, entrees at dinner, cooked to order breakfast. Very attentive staff who genuinely enjoy working there.

Amzing and friendly staff. 12/10 for the staff's hospitality. Very welcoming and always keen to help. Food was tasty and fresh. Only issue I had was cheking in with my daughter. This facilty is aimed for 12+ and older for safety reasons. But manager made an exception as it was too late at night. When i mentioned my daughter can swim and i wont hold them responsible for any issues they let us stay in for the entire duration.
This is an unique place to stay and experience the beauty, calmness and traditional balinese hospitality!!!
Swimming pool edge was made of concrete (sharp edges sometime) but floor and wall was made of tiles (smooth). So be careful as we got scratches from resting our hand on concrete.
Wooden furnitures and utensils has a tendency of building mould when it is close to water.

The villas far exceeded our expectations! Our villa was so spacious with a separate living area by the pool, beautiful big bathroom and nice bedroom. We loved the outdoor shower and spent lots of time in our private pool but also really loved the main pool. The grounds and surroundings are so lovely and peaceful, and with only a few villas it often felt like we were the only people staying there. The staff were lovely as well and always went above and beyond to make things nice for us e.g after eating dinner in the restaurant we'd arrive back to the villa to the mosquito net pulled over, bed turned down, nice lights turned on etc. Really simple things that just made the stay lovely. There were lots of frogs, insects and geckos which I think people are turned off by but they are so harmless and honestly just add to the experience.
Literally nothing, everything was great.

View of river is stunning, Spa on site was great
we had issues with the water and didnt have water for toilet and shower for the first day until got moved into a different room for the night. Communication around the issue was very poor

Beautilful tranquil setting and characterful individual villas within the resort. The spa setting was particularly good, lovely main pool area and good to have own pool at villa too. Staff were very friendly. We made good use of the free shuttle bus service into ubud.
Although set well back from the road, the location and lack of pavements made it difficult to walk to anywhere else. It was very much a resort based stay or get a car to somewhere else. There was a lack of things to do at the resort and we felt it could have benefitted from some board games for example. We had a 2 bedroom villa and whilst the main bedroom was very good, the smaller second room was somewhat poorer in comparison. It was also downstairs and across the open lounge area from the main room which actually led to our teenage daughter who we were travelling with feeling a little nervous about staying there.
10.0 / 10.0
The food is freshly prepared and safe (e.g. they make sure that the ice is made from drinking water) and the resort is just like paradise. The spa is amazing directly at the river near the tropical forest. There are also direct rice field views from the resort. I can highly recommend to stay in villa semana. It's in the outskirts of Ubud, however, there is a free shuttle service to the city centre and Ubud City is very busy and loud. Thus, it's always nice to come back after a tour to this peaceful and beautiful resort. Also, Ubud is the center for culture in Bali and much more authentic than party places like Seminyak. It's great for couples but also families and friends as the bathroom door can be fully closed.

The bed was probably the most comfortable I have slept in whilst on holiday.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Room was cleaned twice a day.
Food for breakfast and lunch was excellent.
Views of the rivers from the restaurant and main pool were great.
Water pressure and hot water in the shower was brilliant.
It is quite a way out of the town, but that could also be a positive.
The private pool wasn’t really private, using plants instead of a wall to shield from the rest of the property.
Patio doors had gaps at the top meaning that bugs could get in and a/c wasn’t as effective as could be.
