Slightly outdated / in need of some work

Aylestone Court was a lovely place to stay for our three nights in Hereford. A popper traditional family run hotel, all the staff we met were really very nice genuine people. Our room whist quite basic was very comfortable and warm. The breakfast was great and the price paid makes this place a wonderful bargain. Happy customers thank you.

It is a tired building in need of, I’d imagine a substantial amount of money spent on it. The bed was comfy but the pillows need replacing. The shower was functional but not great.

Welcoming slice of lemon drizzle was a nice touch. Kindly agreed to let me leave my bag here during the day (after I had checked out). All in all, a very pleasant stay with a slightly old school vibe.

Lovely hotel, great staff, room amazing, breakfast superb and ideal location.

Everything was great.

- When I first arrived things were looking good. I was put in a genuinely stunning room that far exceeded my expectations. The man who greeted me at reception was friendly enough despite being exhausted. - When I called the number provided to complain about hair in my bath I spoke to a man (I think a different man to the one at reception) who could not have been more gracious. He was very apologetic and warmly told me he'd get the bath cleaned or move me to another room.

I noticed short hairs/pubic hair in my bath tub, which made me worry the room had not been cleaned properly. After I reported them the man from reception comes up and says he's moving me to another room. His manner is short and brisk and he's visibly irritated. I'm hesitant as I love the room I'm in. I say “Oh, we're not sorting this bath?” He says no, we're moving. He talks to me as if he's talking to a difficult child, not an adult who's complained about a legitimate hygiene issue. Zero customer service skills. As he seems irritated I try to explain what I said on the phone, saying there are potentially pubic hairs in the bath. He says nothing, genuinely ignores me. I'm moved to a less nice room. I don't have time to check how clean the new room is as I'm running late to my evening plans because of the room change. Also WiFi keeps cutting out and the bin in for the bathroom doesn't work properly. When I get back and go to take a bath I notice more short hairs, this time on the opposite end of the bath. I also see cobwebs in the bathroom and something weird looking piece of rubbish between the carpet and the wall in the bedroom. I'm frustrated that I've been moved to a less nice room which is also not clean. At this point it's after midnight and I can't face calling and potentially interacting with the man from the reception again. I cancel my breakfast as I'm concerned the hotel genuinely has a hygiene issue. I see the man from reception in the morning when I checkout and he is considerably friendlier, however when I tell him about the hair in the room I'd been moved to he literally just says. ‘Ok, bye’. No apology, nothing. I think he thought I was making it up or being difficult. I am not germphobic or a neat freak, just a person who expects the room she stays in to not have hairs in it.

Being a Herefordian, I am aware of the history of Aylestone Court and have attended weddings and other functions in the past. My husband and have stayed before but will not again. The hotels decor is failing however this adds to the character, however the bathroom was grotty and dirty We couldn't believe it.... We couldn't address this after we arrived as we were meeting family. Due to the bathroom , dusty lights and marks on the mirror we cancelled breakfast due to concerns of hygiene. I voiced this when we checked out and had no apology.

very welcoming landlord. excellent breakfast both mornings. Room was of a good size and vey warm. Its an old building but has most of its original features and very nice. Big carpark at front of hotel

Only down side was the shower was as powerful as you would like but the the was hot and we was ok.

The bed was very big and comfy, breakfast was good

The whole place needed some TLC , hallway and stair carpet looked like it hadn’t been hoovered in a while, toilet seat didn’t fit toilet and shower dirty , chandeliers covered in dust.Not greeted at breakfast by owner or spoken too ?? Think he was having a bad day, lady on duty was pleasant.

Charming, cosy, welcoming and felt like home. Very comfortable beds. Good bedding, thick bath towels and generous tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. Great breakfast, lots of choices and a highly recommended omelet.

Location is perfect. Very close to the train station and to the center. There are two supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Michael offered delicious tea and cake on our arrival. He also hold some packages that arrived before my check-in. Breakfast is perfect (full English and omelet). Adam was very attentive. Thank you all.

Its a beautiful building, loved all the original features, too many buildings are updated so the charm is lost, but this one is lovely. The location was perfect for us, we were attending a family wedding at the Town Hall. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Great value for money too.

Decor a little tired.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff/owners. Mostly coherent pretty interior design. Hangers/hooks in the room and bathroom. Windows open for fresh air. Very convenient location near the station.

Terrible hygiene. Mould on food, stains on furniture, towels, and bedding. I dare not think about what isn't obviously visible. Near a large road and old windows, so a bit noisy. Edit: Thank you for the reply. I did inform you of the mould and you did remove the affected items as far as I'm aware. I hope you can maybe re-train regarding shelf life and storage conditions. Besides the hygiene issues I've had a lovely stay, so I really wish the best for your hotel.

Very spacious room and comfy bed. Breakfast was lovely.

The property is interesting, owners have clearly tried to preserve the character, easy to find, safe parking in private courtyard, bed was comfy, bedroom at rear of building was quiet, located well for easy walk to the venue/event we were visiting for, staff were friendly enough and breakfast was delicious - thank you

Lovely welcome with hot drink and biscuits.Excellent location within walking distance of Hereford. Quiet and peaceful. Parking on site. Very comfortable, beautiful old property. Lovely breakfast. Spacious room with large bed. Pleasant staff.

A larger shower would be better.

Bathroom needs some attention ( grouting in shower and floor tiles, tap fittings and plug on sink, cobwebs bathroom ceilings)

We booked to stay here for a nearby wedding and it was excellent value for money, a stunning building, lovely rooms and amazing staff who couldn’t do enough for us.
