Hence, we left the windows open the first night and had a lot of mosquitoes

The room was clean and exactly as expected. Walls are thin, the first night there was a champion snorer next door, but NEVER TRAVEL WITHOUT EAR PLUGS and you will be fine. Linen was changed after two nights. Kettle and fridge in the room. I didn't use the kitchen facilities, or the food supplies kindly left there for guests, but they would be very helpful for some - you could make a simple meal there. I was able to leave luggage in the kitchen area on the last day, and even use the kitchen and the little garden area after I had checked out - a real bonus. My flight was delayed, arrived at 2am, so being able to self check in via a keypad was a lifesaver. The guesthouse is less than 15 minutes walk from Piazzale Roma - narrow calle were a bit spooky at 2am, but Venice is a very safe city, and as it is the student area there were still some people around. Location near Campo Santa Margherita is excellent, lots of cafés and restaurants within a few hundred metres, and a small Conad supermarket. Just 5 minutes walk from Ca Rezzonico Vaporetto stop - the orange Alilaguna line from the airport calls there, so very handy for returning to the airport.
