Loved the stay at La Mere Poulard. The room selected had an amazing view, very comfortable sitting area to relax, a comfortable bed, and modern bathroom. I am very happy I made the decision to stay on the island. Made for a romantic stay to enjoy Mont Saint Michele before and after the crowds. The restaurant was delicious and an amazing experience as well.

Beautiful, historic, original property.
So fun to go from one bedroom to the other if you come with a big family and they aren't in the same building. Also very fun to arrive at night just before diner when the tide is high and just the can pass, and water is on your right and your left when you come down the bus, with waves surrounding you. Even better on chrtistmas show dates. Magical. Such a privilege to be able to sleep in such historical grounds. Staff is very nice. Food is delicious, rooms have been renovated and have an incredible view on the sea of the bay. Great plaasure. Thank you
For elders: sometimes 4th floor no elevator. But it is feasable if done slowly;-)

It is simply a magical spot! Loved having the village to ourselves at night (off season). This place is like entering a dream that you never want to end. It will take your breath away. I’ve been to a lot of wonderful places but this one wins! The room was decent and needs a bit of attention but that would take from the magic. Get up early to take sunrise photos and with video capture the birds awakening from their roasts up high in the belfry as the church bells begin at 8am. Go eat breakfast early as on our second day there were no scrabble eggs or bacon left (the best I ever had). The selections for breakfast were otherwise wonderful. I would skip dinner there. I was disappointed in the lamb (fatty and insufficient). My husband said his beef was good. Antoinette, our server, was fantastic. We arranged an English tour of the abbey with a woman from England. She was knowledgeable, funny, interactive and genuinely wanted everyone to be involved and informed. Wish I could remember her name but did include her photo. Tub in bathroom small and impossible to fill. Bring an extra small flashlight to guide you around the castle village and grounds at night. Catch a mass in the abbey if you can. Don’t miss an iconic photo opportunity to take pictures of lambs in the higher pasture on the left side facing the abbey. Capture Mont Michel in background or visit the shop selling the world famous print of snow covered lambs.
Nothing. It was world class!

The location was wonderful with a window view of the St Michel spire from our window. The restaurant was perfect with both service and food preparation beyond reproach.
No complaints other than the many stairs to the room but of course it is "Mont" Michel.

Location, atmosphere

The room was clean and warm. The bed and pillows were comfy. Mont Saint Michel as a location is very special.
There was a view across a terrace and rooftops - bit disappointing we were hoping for a view across the water. The breakfast was ok - the toaster did not work so we were only able to have bread that was a bit stale. The scrambled eggs were so cold I could not eat all of them. The pastries and coffee were good. Our dinner was not very good either for the price we paid.

The room was lovely and spacious
The number of stairs and distance from Reception. We are in our 60’s and had luggage. There was no assistance in getting up the many flights of steps to the building our room was in or up the four flights to the room.

The breakfast was wonderful. The view was stunning. The island itself was amazing.
Our biggest grumble would be that the site perhaps misrepresented our room location. It was in the Ermitage which looked on the site as if it were a better room in the main lower hotel. We could not get our heavy bags up to the rooms we were allocated. The first room we were assigned was in the attic and had a dehumidifier going - it had a clear mould issue and I have a mould allergy. They moved us down a level but the room was quite dirty and dusty.
9.0 / 10.0
Accomodation that retained as much possible of its original character - this especially so with the streets, alleys and stairways outside. The interior of the rooms provided comfort where necessary with a nice bed and bathroom, while maintaining an authentic and extremely pleasant ambience. Exploring in and around the hotel is quickly rewarded by new perspectives at all scales up to the wide vista of the stunning location.

A simple but perfectly pleasant hotel room in the heart of Mont St Michel.
Apart from the very early wake-up call from the activation of the fire/smoke alarm within the property, there was nothing to dislike.
Future guests need to be aware that Mont St Michel has many steps and this is also reflected in the hotel which does not have a lift.

Location was ideal. Enjoyed ability to stay on island at night when other visitors left. Breakfast was very good. Room had tons of charm, large, with great views. We appreciated our stay!
Nothing. Liked everything.

Breakfast was really bad, not much variety and very little flavor in the food
Fly infestation in the room, which the hotel fixed by giving us a bottle of bug spray to fix the problem. Worst part of it all, me and my friend got bitten by bed bugs all over our body. Staying in the castle is magical... highly recommend another hotel on property if you'd like to not wake up to 10 flies flying over your head and bug bites all over your body.

It was great to stay on Mont St Michel itself, rather than off the island.
I had fairly low expectations going in, and they were met. The only thing this hotel's got going for it is it's location. Our room was kind of clean and the beds weren't too bad but the bathroom was mouldy and the door to our room didn't close properly. Breakfast was pretty good. The check in arrangements (one check in for all the hotels on the island) are a joke.

The breakfast was good and the staff was competent and accommodating. The location was central and we didn’t have to walk much to get to it. We asked for and got 2 beds which made sleeping more comfortable.
The seagulls were king and made a racket early in the morning. There were many steps which is inevitable given the fact that Mont St Michel is situated on rock. There were no lifts in the building itself to help with the luggage. The deliveries and the garbage collection were made early morning which made sleeping-in difficult. I guess it couldn’t be helped as there were huge amounts of visitors during the day and even late in the evening as it’s summer.

The location is wonderful
The manners of the reception, the quality of the services, bad connection with the parking, not help with the luggage, not elevator, poor breakfast and poor quality of the room. Would never recommend it.

We like the view from our room as well as the location. We highly recommend staying a night there as you can enjoy the Mont better in the evening and morning before the tourist rush. Expensive but worth the memory.
Small remark but the carpet on the red house 2nd floor needs replacement.

Good location, nice breakfast
Subpar rooms in need of refurbishment , music blaring from 7pm until after 3am and no response from reception when we called.

The room dimension was ok, bigger than the usual rooms in France. The bay view was nice, but paid extra for it.
The smell in the room was heavy and musty, even though i aired the room, as soon as i closed the window the smell came back. What completely disgusted me was that the bed sheets were stained. At a price of a bit more of 300 euros/ night stained bedding is unacceptable, that’s the main reason i gave the property this low score. Also, wrote expressly to the reception in order to reserve the room with big windows and big chimney (bay view), they confirmed and then gave me exactly the other room that i didnt want. I speak french fluently, so there was no misunderstanding, but this is the treatement they offer. They say like you, and they do their way.

Staying on the island after the crowds left was the best.
Our room was filled with a strong oder of mold and mildew. I'm not sure if it was the carpet but I suspect so. It was very unpleasant.

Half board. Convenient to get meals included due to limitation of restaurants after hours. The experience for discovering the island/abbey without the crowd after hours and early in tje morning. The night was definitely worth it to stay back for a private visit.
Old carpets and it can be a bit suffocating if the windows are closed.

EVERYTHING!!! Breakfast was fantastic. The bed, pillows and linen were fabulous. So comfy. Nice spacious room. We were VERY happy there.

Location. At the beginning of the main street (so you do not have to carry out your heavy suits to the top of the Mont Saint Michel.
A beautiful view on the bay.
The bathroom was not that big and a little bit outdated

A very charming room overlooking the ramparts of Mnt Saint Michelle. It was wonderful. Our room was spacious and comfortable with all the modern conveniences. It was very well supplied with electrical outlets. This surprised me for such an old and remote location.
I'm not really complaining, but get used to stairs everywhere in Mt Saint Michelle.

We loved the room we stayed. we were able to see the alley from the room, the view from the entrance was nice, it was really comfortable to stay. Breakfast was also nice.
It was hard to find the reception because the sign showed a different name on it. (or we took it wrong)
We don't care but if you stay here, you have to take a lot of stairs not only to the accommodation, but also to your room (actually it depends on which accommodation or room you stay.)

Being located on the island was beautiful. I walked around at night and early in the morning when there were almoat no tourists. The staff were kind and helpful and the room was clean. The view from my window was also very beautiful.
Since it was converted from a house, it seems like not every room is suitable for a hotel. For example, Im 1.77 cm tall but I couldnt stand up in the shower without my head touching the ceiling. 😄

Location was very convenient, and most of all, you gave us the best room with the best view when I asked for one since it was our 20th anniversary. This hospitality meant a lot to us!!
There were no elevators, but I can understand.

The view of the room.
There was a bit smell from the drain.

Hotel was over 100 climbing steps from the main street, either in the very uphill reception street, also in the building it self.
My bag was below 16kilos, imagine if it was 20kg !

Beautiful views from room 405. We loved wandering around long after the crowds had gone, watching the stars. Plenty of room, nice bathroom.

I was slightly worried about the smell of the drains.

The room was comfortable with a great view. Very convenient to the main gate and easy to walk around the island from there. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, both healthy and sweet.
The room door and bath door would not latch. The room door deadbolt worked. The carpet needed to be cleaned or replaced. It was pretty stained.

The room we stayed in was fantastic. People make complaints about the various Poulard hotels on Mont St. Michel and I understand they might not be great. But this clearly newly renovated, apartment-style unit was fantastic. And our entrance was directly out onto the ramparts! Wow - just blown away by the room and the location. The breakfast was standard fare with more than enough to eat - which is great as there are no other breakfast options on the Mont.
There isn't much negative to say. The unit had everything we could need and I couldn't have designed it better myself. This was like a dream come true. I want to go back already!

Great location but could do with a serious makeover. Obviously the cost includes the view.
However, I think a bit more attention to detail wouldn’t go astray. Very drab and old fashioned but not in any way charming. The ancient curtain hooks fell off and prevented the curtains from closing properly so we had an early start!
Breakfast was ok.
Before arriving, and as instructed, we called (and called) to no avail for the car park code. Answer the phone - that’s surely not too much to ask for?

Location was perfect at the entrance with a view of the ocean. Room was immaculate. Bathroom was clean with new flooring and vanity. Good breakfast included.
Nothing ... look at where you are.

the location is amazing, beatiful view
nothing was said about having to climb long stairs to reach the hotel otherwise we would have packed lighter
the room was next to a freshly painted reception and our room was smelling of paint, the doors were not closing properly, TV not working
room smelling of paint
doors not closing properly, hots at the reception not friendly, they make you feel like they do not care, i guess they dont have to worry if you dont like it as they are always busy with little to non returning guests
breakfast included but it was a joke, one of the worst breakfast i had in an hotel, and i am traveling all over the world for my work
3.0 / 10.0
The pillows were good and mattress was ok
Receptionist was very good
It was filthy - and I mean disgusting 🤮
There were bugs infested in the ceiling ,
Mould in the bathroom , wee on the floor - the carpet was disgusting , hadn’t been cleaned in many many years . The curtains were bleached feom the sun , the windows didn’t open properly
The food was excellent- the staff are like nothing we have ever encountered . Rude doesn’t cover it ! The most unhelpful apathetic ignorant staff we have had the displeasure of meeting .
We were ignored as was everyone so it wasn’t personal- everyone in the restaurant was of the same opinion , people were overcharged on bills , no change given just kept - all the reviews are unfortunately true which are a a shame as the food is good
A lot of money needs to be spent on training and refurbishing the place

It's in a neat location and you can take the back stairs up to the Abby and avoid some of the crowd heading there on the Grand Rue.
Breakfast was typical of other hotels in France (i.e. it was ok).
Check-in was confusing since the reception was in a different hotel and it was only thanks to the guy making omelets next to the Poulard reception desk that we were informed that we had to go to a different hotel.
I indicated that the room was not quiet, but this is not the fault of the hotel. The seagulls are very loud.
The rooms have not been updated in about a century, but they seemed fairly clean with the exception of mold covering the walls of the bathroom and the bedroom. We were not aware of the mold in the bedroom until the morning when it was too late to request a change of room. We informed the staff at the time of checking out but nothing was done. Management is aware of this as we said the same things in their survey.

The only thing good is the location
The faded pictures on the walls indicate it... the hotel's good times are long behind it. Worn out, dirt on the floor in the corridors. Effortful but completely untalented staff. But the pinnacle is the breakfast. Coffee machine broken... Fruit and scrambled eggs were not replenished despite repeated requests. So was the toast. The sausage was only added after the third request. The rooms like the entire hotel have an absolute renovation backlog. All this for 250€ per night is an absolute outrage. Someone is trying to profit from the reputation of past times and earn a quick euro with largely untrained staff. My request for a discount at check out because of the impossibly poor breakfast was very rudely denied.
