The Cumberland is well-located for those hiking the Pennine Way. Its evening meal offering is good as is the breakfast.
The Cumberland is showing its age with the decor beginning to be ‘tired’.

Great location in the centre of Alston. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good home cooked food.

Dinner and breakfast were excellent. The room was spacious.
The bathroom was appalling. Dodgy shower, black mould, suspicious looking stains on the shower, dangling string from the ceiling, leaking radiator and cracks in the walls
