Location was good to travel to town and a few tourist attractions.lovely independent shops in town. Went on a food and wine taste tour, which was good
Hotel - people friendly and the room was clean and bed comfortable.
Breakfast was OK, just a few hiccups.
There was a general lack of experience and attention to detail.
On check in on day 1, the receptionist thought we were only checked in for one day and also asked me to pay, even though we'd already pre paid! Abd staying 2 nights.
Room outside of main hotel. Not a great start.
Room smelt of smoke. Complained but nothing was done about it.
WiFi in room intermittent.
No tea bags on tea and coffee tray. Had to ask for them.
Went to use hairdryer and found it was missing one of the pins, so it was unusable, had to go back into main hotel in the rain to ask for a hairdryer.
Breakfast on day 1, sausage too under cooked for me.
Breakfast on day 2, the pot of tea delivered was luke warm. Asked for a replacement, which was delivered. Apparently the urn had been switched off.

The room was nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious.
The side lamps couldn’t be plugged in. At lunch the main was delicious but the starter and dessert was disappointing.

Beautiful old country house in fabulous grounds. Period furniture, beams , fireplaces. Amazing staff. Very good value for a late deal including breakfast.
The spiral staircase to my room was really hard to navigate with a case, briefcase and umbrella. I did get help on check in but was really worried coming down, especially in heels! It was very muddy in the carpark - due to excessive rain but I ruined some boots on my way in.

The staff here are amazing, we took our Jack Russell with us and the staff were great with her as she's a nervous dog. The room in the mews was great for us, a bit dated but it worked. Had a fantastic meal in the evening, served by a fantastic guy who was running the bar, so friendly and helpful. Food is of a high standard and competitively priced. Bar area is stunning with lovely open fire.
Room was a bit dated but warm and cosy. Could have been cleaned a bit better.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights enjoying the breakfasts and evening meals. We were there with friends who also stayed at the hotel with their dog. The food was very good, but the stay was made all the better because of the friendly and helpful staff. We would especially like to mention Samy who worked in the bar and restaurant. He was exceptionally helpful and very entertaining. He made the dinners great fun whilst being attentive to our needs. Thank you!

We stayed here for a friends 60th. Staff were very attentive and went over and above to make our stay memorable. Especially the manager who was kind and thoughtful and friendly. Loved cheddar the hen. Meal in evening and breakfast were lovely and the setting is beautiful. Me and and my friends had a lovely time and will definitely be returning. Thank you ☺️

Beautiful old Manor House in lovely grounds
The path from the car park to the property is poorly lit so can be hazardous

The location being close to Peterborough. The friendly feel .
This hotel while very nice needs a bit of money spending on it , investment . Our bathroom windows did not close properly and let in a nasty draft as the wood was so warped . The bathroom blind was broken so couldn’t be lowered or raised. The reception and very strange way the bio, invoice was presented made it very difficult to check. The lady in front of us needed close to 40 minutes to check and request for the two rooms she had booked . We didn’t have the patience on receiving ours but understood once we got home and tried to make sense of it . This hotel could be so much more given the price charged.

Breakfast very tasty, nicely presented.
A nice view from our window, the garden looks lovely but it was too cold to go out.
Very friendly staff at check-in, dinner and breakfast.
Our room was unfortunately quite cold, so eventually we moved to a different room - with a ridiculously high 4 poster bed. I had to jump off cushions balanced on the floor to get into the bed. made me giggle, but it was annoying. But at least it was warm.
The water pressure in the shower was quite weak.

Weekend manager not that friendly

The Staff are delightful especially Sami who was so welcoming and personable. The service was swift and efficient and the rooms comfortable and had everything we needed. A quirky country house hotel, quaint and comfortable for an overnight stay and convenient location for Bury St Edmunds.
Tea and coffee were not hot on arrival at breakfast but swiftly replaced on request. Breakfast could be improved by prepared fresh fruit
Rooms took a little time to heat up, but it is an old house so this was to be expected.

Stayed for a very peaceful Christmas break. Lovely big room and bathroom.
Everything was great, no complaints.

Everything! The furnishings and decor was in keeping with the elegance of the very old building. There were nice touches like a tiny Christmas tree in each bedroom. We stayed on two separate occasions going to and from the coast where we stayed for Christmas.
Nothing at all.

We had Christmas lunch with Mesothelioma support group the food was excellent. We stay the night in the standard room not in the hotel was very comfortable. But if we had known we would have booked non standard as we had difficulty climbing the outside stairs.Breakdast was excellent.
The room we wouldn't have booked that room due to Iron stairs outside which myself and husband struggled with.

Bed was comfortable.
Pavilion evening was very good - food was nice.
Both door and window were mouldy and rotten. Unsafe door even when locked. Room was up slippery steps - not good when raining with a bad back. Kettle in room but no plug - had to unplug light and crawl on the floor to boil the kettle - boiling kettle on the floor. Random apple left in the room with biscuits and coffee? Breakfast pancakes were cold and unpleasant. Needs updating and lots of money spent on it - real shame as was expecting more.

Room was comfortable, staff friendly and breakfast was perfect.
Our room was directly above the bar so couldn't sleep until after close, then woken up by breakfast staff.

Just enjoyed it all, was a cold wet day so a cosy warm room was essential and that's what we got, beautiful big bed with lovely linen and comfortable mattress and pillows. Tea/coffee with yummy biscuits and even an apple! Super shower with lovely towels.
Being a vegetarian and not liking tomatoes and mushrooms has been a challenge in some places and not a fan of beans so I personally believe there should be more than one choice as a main meal, I had a sandwich with chips and salad which were tasty but not really a main evening meal.

Room was a good size. Bed was comfortable.
Cleanliness wasn't great. The room was also cold. My son cut his hand on the bathroom door handle, so this should be looked at. I forgot to mention this to reception when we left.

Nowhere much else around there to stay
Not easy to find, signs could be better.
Car park long way from building & muddy gravel driveway
Reception shut (not stated on website) & directions to outside room difficult in the dark.
Small cold room, loud cockerel at daybreak & expensive breakfast

This is a lovely old hotel set in its own beautiful grounds. It is very quiet but also conveniently located very close to a main road giving travellers easy access.
The cooked breakfast was very good, but the selection available for the continental breakfast was disappointing

The member of staff on our first night was friendly, efficient and excellent at his job. Unfortunately the second night member of staff wasn't as good and was very loud on closing up for the night when we were in bed.
The food. Uninspiring menu and for both nights there were no greens, veg or salad included on my plates (burger and chips/gammon egg and chips) at all - just carbs and protein . There is no excuse not to provide healthy plates or options for travellers staying away, (even if not everyone eats it as greens are so inexpensive!).

The bed was not that comfortable for me
