Frustratingly Unprofessional

The room looked nice and was pretty big. The pub was lovely - nice staff and god food.

The bed was uncomfortable & it was really noisy so we couldn't really sleep - but the most frustrating thing was that they charged us twice for something and kept refusing to return the overpayment - they said that only one payment showed up on their system and didn't believe that we'd been charged an extra £25. In the end, when the accounts team checked the payment, the money was returned to my account, but only after about 2 weeks and lots of chasing with multiple calls and emails. Most of the front of house staff I dealt with were dismissive and rude, they didn't seem very well trained. Definitely wouldn't stay again.

Not really a 4 star experience for the price at nearly £200 a night. The shower needs improvement.

The bathroom fan was broken. There were no lights above the shower and no shower mat, which is hazardous. The water pressure in the shower was weak.

The room itself was large, clean and comfortable and the coffee pod machine was good.

Room very small and basic for the money. Comfortable enough but curtains difficult to close because of proximity of bed to the wall. En-suite smelled a bit on arrival, shower pathetic.

Probably wouldn’t go back

The main thing when travelling for work is if I arrive after the earliest check-in time, I expect my room to be ready and available. It took the lady at reception 10 minutes to confirm my room was ready, even though I arrived an hour after check-in time I did point this out and all I had back was, but we’ve been really busy Now I understand it’s a busy time but after travelling over two hours when I arrive at the hotel, I expect to be able to access my room straight away

Brilliant staff, excellent facilities brilliant breakfast.

The breakfast was brilliant and the restaurant staff were very attentive. Good range of food, from continental breakfast to full-English break. Definitely recommend! Coffee is great! I really appreciated the care from the reception team. I needed to alert them that I would be late checking in (after 21:00). They were very accommodating. The room itself was fantastic, with a very comfortable bed. The warm shower that I took shortly after my arrival was perfect.

I found everything to be of a very high standard. Very happy and would happily come back at some future time.

Pleasant hotel

Our Deluxe Double room was large, bright and comfortable - the bed was enormous. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. There is a bus stop close by making it easy to get into the city centre. The Stables Bar and the Brasserie both served great food. The car parking was free.

My daughter felt her second floor Premium Family room with two double beds was dated and not very clean which was disappointing.

I have stayed at this hotel several times and always enjoy my stay. I had a room upgrade, courtesy of the hotel this time which was fabulous 👌. Gentleman on reception was welcoming and efficient, a warm welcome always enhances a visit. Would highly recommend, 5 star 🌟

An unexpected return! Yet a pleasant one.

I had a different room from the one I had a couple of weeks ago and it was miles better (The last one wasn't bad either). Very comfortable bed, Clean, Quiet, and booking in/out easy. Had evening meal in the connected pub next door, where the staff are friendly and the food comes by an efficient waiter/waitress.

Fairly disappointed despite the reputation.

The room was very clean and easy to get to.

The heating was not working to the point that I was shivering during the early hours of the morning of my first night and as a result I caught a cold. I reported it the next morning and was given a portable heater in the evening. I then had to figure out how to work it. Having paid extra for breakfast both mornings, the cooked breakfast was nice but it was almost cold. Maybe the temperature needed turning up on the hot plates.
