Mercure Grand Hotel Biedermeier Wien

We and our friends found the hotel charming and the employees friendly and helpful with any request. It was a treat to have breakfast or other meals on the outside terrace and the food was very tasty. The breakfast buffet had many choices and everything was fresh. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed for a four night stay. My husband has to eat gluten-free and the restaurant staff went out of their way to adjust dishes to fit his needs. The location is very convenient to public transportation (bus, underground and tram) and to the Ring.

The hotel provided gluten-free bread at breakfast for my husband, but it was always the same white Schär bread. In other hotels in Austria he has had rolls from Resch und Frisch which can be kept frozen and baked when needed. Perhaps in the future that could be an option. The only other thing that was missing was a second chair in our room (201). Our friends in the next room had one, and there was space for one in our room.

Room was really big and comfortable. Facilities in the room were pleasing to see, especially the mini bar if you were keen enough to stay in for the day

The air con was struggling to keep up.

In the hot summer, aircon working is essential. The pedestal fan was a sign that staff knew this was an issue. We were there late and only for a night. Unfortunately wouldn’t return. Uncomfortably hot room.
