About this hotel
The Literary Man Óbidos Hotel is a unique literary hotel and the biggest in the world. Located next to the Óbidos Castle, this former convent kept its original charm and was converted in to a hotel called Estalagem do Convento in 1965.

We loved the food at the restaurant inside the hotel plus they gave us 10% off all of our food.
Nothing. We had 2 bathrooms in our suite.

The atmosphere was very unique with the library theme and very close to the old walled city. Great service and the front desk staff were very helpful. The included breakfast buffet was great, and the dinner service was amazing.
Because of the amount of books , many books remained unopened for long periods of time. There is a slight smell from the captured humidity from the old books

Location, location, location! Just a short walk to sights and restaurants. Very quiet at night. Quirky decor with books and seating nooks everywhere. There was street parking right outside hotel.
Breakfast was good but pricey at 18 pounds per person for cold buffet.

The hotel is very pretty and nicely decorated
The hotel is poorly maintained, not very clean and in general in a run down status. Definitely does not deserve 4 stars. The service is poor, even basic questions like ‘where can I park the car’ are answered with - ‘find your place’ (there is a huge parking lot near bi). No soap in the bath room, only 2 eggs left in the kitchen for breakfast, etc. its way off what we expected
