Villa Mimosa

The pool, the sunshine, the outdoors is where we spent most time. The rooms are spacious, the downstairs ‘bedroom’ is huge. It’s well equipped and a gorgeous place to spend a holiday. It’s in a small village, and a pizza one night at the village bar was popular with the family.

The villa itself, the swimming pool, and outside patio were fantastic. The kitchen had plenty of utensils, although the knives were in desperate need of sharpening. The pool and the yard were regularly well maintained. Cortona was a good base for exploration of Tuscany, although one downside is that is a drive to Cortona proper, the grocery stores, restaurants except a nearby very good pizza and bar, and virtually anywhere else you may need to go.

There was a very disappointing lack of basic necessities in the condo. For example, Kleenex, basic condiments, garbage bags, paper towels, charcoal for the grill, etc. were either absent or in sparse quantities. For the very high prices to stay here, spending a small amount for basic supplies does not seem a big ask and is definitely something lacking that is usually present in other rental properties we have used that were less expensive. In a similar vein and annoyance, charging 50 Euros extra for air conditioning in the upstairs bedrooms seemed a completely unwarranted expense, again particularly with the already high rental fees. The requirement that you also need to take away your own garbage was at best quite annoying. Although the condo was generally clean, there was leftover coffee grinds with mold that made us suspicious of their cleaning standards. The property manager did a fine job but at times did not seem very service oriented.
