It is my favorite spot to stay in Cortona: warm and bright and comfortable.

If someone has mobility issues it is unlikely to be a good fit. It is a steep climb up the hill and there are stairs to reach the apartment. The street it is located on is intended only for small vehicles. For most people it is not a problem.

Caveat emptor

On my contract, a balcony was listed, but our apartment had neither a balcony nor a view. I explicitly rented this apartment for the view. We would not have booked this property if we had known there was no view. I gave the management and owner an opportunity to discuss this matter in a friendly way, but they lacked the ability or willingness to do so. I finally traded texts with the owner Marco and he seemed arrogant in my opinion. He claimed that the errant balcony listing was his mistake. Was it merely a mistake? I don't know. But, the promise of a view obviously brings in customers. That's most likely why a balcony is featured in the cover photo for these rentals (I believe there are three). Marco claimed I hadn't been careful enough and I should have been able to surmise the actual situation. Perhaps. But, to me, before booking, all of the information was taken out of context. To Marco, who is very familiar with his own property, all information is in context. He claimed something that he very clearly knows is not true. I decided to stay there despite my disappointment, because finding other accommodations would have been difficult. Believe me, I checked. Also, my wife isn't healthy, and I didn't want to tire her out. The apartment that we got has character. It solely occupies an old building, but the interior has been recently renovated. It has two bedrooms and you must walk through both of them to get to the bathroom in the back. The apartment has a lot of windows looking out onto leafy trees. It has no air-conditioning, but a fan is provided. Keeping the windows open wasn't practical as there were mosquitoes. The best feature of the property was the generous check in and check out time. - Two pm and ten thirty am, respectively. The manager allowed us to check out before eleven am ostensibly because of the balcony issue, but it was not discussed as such.

The drive in, through old town Cortona, was challenging, and the old stone buildings seemed to interfer with the signal from Google maps. Also, parking near the property is limited. You may have to wait for a spot to become available. Not much was offered in the kitchen. No salt. Just two espresso pods for two people for three days. Generosity does not seem to be a strong point here.

Great location but hard to get to.

The location was very good proximity to center. Be prepared to walk up a. Wet steep hill though to get back from center. Parking absolute nightmare and to get to property was very difficult by car. But pretty much all of Cortona roadways are difficult to maneuver through. People who own home were nice and helped guide us into area so we could park.

Besides it saying balcony in ad… there’s none at all. There is a garden area that you cannot even see from home. Have to go outside and down stairs to get to. Small table with two chairs. Property very dark. Was left with only two towels for 5 days. No paper towels and no tissues provided. No true views from windows of home. Large trees block views. Only nice view from close to fence in garden area.

We loved our stay. We would stay there again if we don’t have elderly relatives with us.

The view was amazing! The kitchen was well stocked. It was a quiet location.

The walk to the center piazza was a bit steep (more than we hoped for having two elderly people with us. The shower is way too small. The tub is a nice size, but not convenient to wash in without getting water all over the floor. The walk to the piazza was longer than we expected. We tried to find a place that was a little more level to the piazza level.

Perfect stay and experience. 100% would recommend

Perfect property, large enough for 3 families and very comfortable. It has every facility that you would need. The owners / staff are amazing, kind and genuinely want you to have the best experience . We also used their hotel in the country which was also perfect for nice relaxing days and simple lunch. Hopefully one day we will go back

Fantastic, beautiful and modern apartment in an ancient building near historic medieval city gate.

Our experience at Donaberarda was exceptional. Paola sent a taxi (driven/owned by Angelo - definitely worth the 20 euros) to pick us up at the Camucia-Cortona train station. He also arranged for our taxi for our return to the station when when we departed for Florence. We recommend this as the best option for access to the train station to and from the apartment. The walk is probably not a good choice due to the lack of sidewalks, the narrow streets, and the uphill nature of the terrain from the station. We walked everywhere (about 170 miles) in Italy for a month, but we were happy that we did take a taxi in Cortona. Paola was very welcoming and showed us which keys to use to access the building and the apartment. He then gave us a thorough tour of the apartment and its amenities. The spacious kitchen contained everything we needed to prepare meals and coffee. One exception: the corkscrew was broken, most likely by a previous guest. The view from the terrace/patio overlooking the valley and Lake Trasimeno in the distance was spectacular and awe-inspiring. The bedrooms were large and comfortable with sensational window views of the valley below. There were two excellent, spotlessly clean bathrooms. We would highly recommend the Donnaberarda apartment, and Cortona with its ample selection of restaurants and shops. Definitely, one of the top three (out of eight) lodgings we had during our 28-day trip. Thank you, Paola, for providing such a grand apartment and hospitality.

We liked it all, even though the distance to and the accessibility of the train station was not convenient. We knew this beforehand, but be prepared for the very hilly cobble-stoned streets of Cortona; some are not for the faint of heart. Just take it easy going up and down...

Incredible place! Two bedroom apartment with big kitchen, living room, balcony, and two bathrooms (one with shower, one with tub). Absolutely amazing views. Very comfortable and an easy walk from all the sights. I would go again over and over.

Very pleasant and memorable stay.

Excellent apartment in superb location fitted out to a very high standard. We had everything we could have wished for. The views are amazing. The host was extremely helpful and showed us how to get there through the narrow Cortona streets by following him. Although I knew where it was from Google Earth, there was no way I could have got there with following him, as the street is one way, ‘down only’. We were able to park right outside, even though there is a car park up the road beside the house as an alternative. We also used the pool at the sister property a few Kms away, which was nice to cool off in the hot weather. Highly recommended.

Tablets for the dishwasher, anti-mosquito aids, and some sugar for coffee would be very nice to find in the kitchen, so that you should not think about such small details (especially on Sundays, when stores are closed).

Drive through town to get to apartment was through ancient streets that were very narrow. Barley made it through tight spaces with our Citroen SUV.

The owner Paulo arrived quickly at the square to pick us up and lead us to the parking area which is 50 meters to the property. He doesn't speak good English but he was very nice and had a person who speaks English ( on the phone) helping him to explain things if needed. The place was newly renovated and very clean. plenty of rooms( 3 bedroom and 2 bathrooms) The view is beautiful

There are no screens on the window so we can't open the window to let the breeze in. It would be so nice to do so in the Tuscany evening. There are no ACs in the house so even if it is nice outside in morning and evening, inside it is pretty warm.

Do not hesitate - this apartment is perfect if you are looking for a place to visit Cortona. It is located very close to all attractions and itself is a nice treat as you get a perfect view on the valley every day. Even though it was hot during our stay (35 C), it was ok inside, as long as you do not keep windows open at noon. The apartment could easily accomodate a large family (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms), but is not intimidating for a couple. The contact with the owner was very good and we were shown a way to the parking just in front of the apartment (which was an adventure itself).

There is a little bit of stairs to get to the apartment. It wasn't a problem for us at all, but for some it might be good to know. The biggest bedroom might be a bit noisy in the morning (it's city after all).

Leuk huis met ruime tuin. Heerlijk koel in huis ondanks dat er geen airco was. Bed lag uitstekend. Verder zag alles er netjes en verzorgd uit. En natuurlijk heel fijn dat het op loopafstand van het mooie en gezellige centrum van Cortona, met veel leuke restaurants en terrasjes, ligt. Super vriendelijke ontvangst.

Om met Johan Cruijff te spreken: elk voordeel heb z’n nadeel: door de ligging bij het centrum is het lastig in de buurt van het huis te parkeren. Na een ‘bloedstollende’ 😉 rit door het centrum auto toch maar buiten de stadsmuren geparkeerd. Was voor ons te doen omdat we maar 3 nachten bleven en hoeveelheid bagage te overzien was. Bovendien was host zo aardig om aan te bieden naar parkeerterrein te rijden en bagage op te halen, maar dit was voor ons niet nodig.

Wspaniałe miejsce z historią, pięknym widokiem i zacisznym ogrodem, który dawał wytchnienie w upalne dni. Budynek jest położony w spokojnej części Cortony, niedaleko głównych atrakcji miasta. Mieliśmy świetny kontakt z gospodarzem, który opowiedział nam kilka ciekawostek historycznych, pożyczył książki o kulturze Val di Chiany, poczęstował świetnymi pomidorami, które sam uprawiał, a także zaprosił do swojej agroturystyki niedaleko Cortony, gdzie mogliśmy spędzić fantastyczny dzień kąpiąc się w basenie i wypoczywając na leżakach. Wieczorem poszliśmy na kolację do restauracji naszego gospodarza, gdzie zjedliśmy fenomenalne dania kuchni toskańskiej. Bardzo dziękujemy za ten wspaniały czas, który spędziliśmy w Cortonie.
