The location is absolutely fantastic ! The cottage is always spotless and warm and inviting ! And Beryl the housekeeper goes above and beyond everytime ! Plus she’s on the end of the phone if there’s ever a problem! I’ve stayed here 20 times now . It’s the only place I’d stay in Whitby .

Great location, and lovely quirky building and attention to detail was fabulous, there was nothing you would need to go out for, absolutely everything you needed was in that property and Beryl housekeeper was just a call away for anything. Very thoughtfully looked after property..

Only thing was the stairs ( which we knew about through other reviews) but wouldn’t put me off returning by any means.

The appartment is exceptional in all aspects.

Everything was good.

A very pleasant spacious two level accommodation over a cafe. A lot of effort has gone into making the place cozy and comfortable, not like your ordinary holiday rental accommodation, lots of nice extra touches. First level a generous living room with a large open kitchen. The living area complete with comfy chairs, cushions, small tables and pleasantly decorated. Also a large TV with a DVD player which was handy. The kitchen had plenty of worksurfaces, a full hob cooker with oven, fridge with freezer compartment. Probably one of the best equipped kitchens I have found in holiday accommodation and we were able to use it without having to go out to buy missing things. The bathroom is spacious if a slightly odd shape, but that was a quirky attraction, again well supplied, good bath with shower. The upper level main room a very comfortable bedroom with decent blinds, plus an anteroom with books games and a view of the harbour between other buildings.

It should have been perfect and could have been. Unfortunately when we tried to use the shower water came from the head but also out of the shower unit casing which with an electric shower seemed quite dangerous. We were late trying to use it on the Friday we arrived but I tried calling the renting company helpline in the morning, I kept getting an automated message saying there was a problem and I should call back, when I did all I got was the same message. I tried the convoluted Whatsapp help line, this involved lots of messing about with an AI and an eventual message to say an "agent" would be in contact. No agent contacted us, on the day we left I got a message to say since 24 hours had passed since my initial attempt at contact my complaint/contact had been made "...we're no longer able to respond". Other minor problems were faulty flickering bathroom lighting, a bedside lamp that turned itself on and off randomly and a tin opener that wouldn't open tins. Fortunately the bath was very good. The major annoyance was the apparent total disinterest of the renting company in being able to address any of these problems (had they done so I doubt the problems would have annoyed me enough to cover in such detail, generally where I find problems I like to be able to report that someone was on hand to swiftly resolve them, not in this case, and it was not cheap accommodation either).
