Told had downstairs room, it was outside in annex, no disabled access steps everywhere, on oxygen found access difficult, staff not concerned
Meant to be 3 star meaning facilitate should be available yet staff went home abandoned hotel and guests at 8.00 pm

This was warm and cosy in a chilly February
Lovely location
Friendly
Easy parking
Very comfy beds and pillows
A really beautiful well cooked breakfast in a sunny conservatory with beautiful views
Nothing to dislike.. If I was to give constructive criticism then I’d say get some big comfy arm chairs in your beautiful bar and entrance area so you could sit and enjoy a drink in comfort.. but honestly that’s about it..

The walls were very thin. Next door has dogs and so constant barking and not very relaxing.
Poor quality and thin bedding and very poor pillows.
The shower was a dribble and simply not good enough.

Proximity to Ludlow -
Our room in was in the attic (no. 8) with only rear and side view. Walls rather thin so noise from adjacent room/bathroom!!

The location on the outskirts of Ludlow is perfect, a quiet rural setting with easy walking to Ludlow Castle and the rest of the town. The hotel is extremely comfortable and the staff relaxed and very welcoming. The food is excellent and the restaurant and breakfast areas are airy, light and well-spaced providing a relaxed dining experience.
Very comfortable beds and well equipped bathroom.

Location of the property was excellent the staff were very friendly the food was very good .
The hotel lacks character and warmth, the bedroom was nicely decorated if little out dated, attention to cleaning wouldn't go amiss, there were big cobwebs in our room.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
There was no internet in the room we were first put in and my husband struggled to walk up to the top floor. We couldn’t get the TV to work. We were moved lower down where we had internet and less stairs.

Lovely quiet location.
We’ve stayed here before as have friends of ours who we recommended it to. We all agreed rooms were lovely. We booked our stay in July but the hotel contacted us in September to say they weren’t actually open so moved our dates. Due to our previous good experience we accepted this.
We arrived to find we were at the top of the main house in a shabby but clean room that was icey cold but were reassured the heating would come on later. When returned later than evening to no heating, to be told if we turned on the radiators it would warm up. Not the best first impression. The complimentary toiletries were 2 tiny bottles so we bought some in town. There was no shower; I don’t recall if this was mentioned on booking but had I known I wouldn’t have booked it.
All in all we were very disappointed. No apology for moving our date, no apology for the freezing room. No one asked at any point if everything was ok. Given the hotel was quiet it seemed unnecessary to give us such a shabby room (we knew there were much nicer ones) in the attic.
We didn’t have dinner in the hotel but breakfast was ok.. again not as good as we remembered.

Very good hotel with large car park nice bar really pleasant staff and both dinner and breakfast cooked superbly We brought our dog who was fussed over by the staff and in the bedroom there was more than ample space for the dog to lie in his bed without being scrunched up
The weather could have been kinder but hey ho

The surroundings were beautiful, with the castle, town and Clee Hill beyond offering a wonderful back drop with views from the second floor bedroom. The lights of the town twinkled at night. It was very peaceful and welcoming, the staff I met were helpful and friendly. My room was clean, comfortable and well equipped, it had a small but ample.shower room.
I can't comment on the food, I dined out with a friend and had to leave early in the morning, so skipped breakfast.
I would stay again and recommend to others but I wouldn't stay in the same room because the wall was very thin between the rooms, this meant it wasn't always restful..
The shower was okay, but at one point, mid shower it went stone cold for a while.

Another small desk/table in room 12 would be useful

Location. Excellent breakfast.
Could have fresh milk available in the bedroom, rather than UHT cartons. In a double room perhaps a packet of biscuits each rather than one between two.

Staff were lovely. Location by the river looking up at the Castle lovely and easy walking distance into Ludlow. Bedroom comfy. Food was fine.
As it’s a restaurant with rooms the lounge area is limited but well designed. Bathroom a little tired but v clean and bright

Lovely location. Room was spacious with a nice view over well kept allotments & nearby fields. Good restaurant.
Short pleasant walk into Ludlow & lots of river/woodland walks close by.

The staff were excellent, it was all women and they were friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. The downstairs area was spacious, light and airy, modern and smart. Food was good - there was a good selection of both food and wine. It was warm and comfortable. Location was good, quiet countryside within a reasonable walking distance of the town. There was plenty of parking.
Upstairs was a bit old-fashioned and the room - king en-suite standard - was small and the en-suite really tiny! We were only there one night so it wasn't a problem. There was everything you expected - tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, extra pillows and everything was clean. The Cliffe really is a restaurant with rooms rather than a hotel. Remodel it to have fewer rooms, but larger and modern, like the downstairs area, and it would be an excellent small hotel.

All the meals were excellent. In particular the breakfast was made to order rather than a buffet. This meant that eggs, for instance, were fresh as opposed to what you would expect from a buffet.
Dinner was very good with a small but good choice of wine.
Our room was quite small but we expected that since it was the last one available.
Perhaps a more changing dinner menu given that the choice was not huge

Great location - only a short walk to Ludlow Town and the Castle. Clean comfortable room. Lovely friendly staff. Great food and of real importance to us - the hotel is dog friendly. We really appreciated that we could leave our car in the car park while we explored Ludlow even after we had checked out. This was our second stay and I’m sure it won’t be our last.
I think we’ll go for one of the cottages next time - with a walk in shower that will be much easier for us 🤣
