Lovely property, area full of charm and locals friendly.

Was November and a cold snap, heating easy to use and was in use often but needs a draught excluder at the back door.

A lovely break.
Perfect location, everything very convenient. Close to the shop, nearby restaurants, parkland and river with waterfowl, Visitor Centre etc, but at the same time quiet and relaxed. Car park just across the road with electric charging points.
Hard to think of anything disappointing. A cafetiere would have been useful. The knob on the banister needed fixing on.

Comfortable stay in the heart of Gatehouse of Fleet
Gatehouse of Fleet is a beautiful place to stay. I know the area very well so was able to access all the places I wanted to visit (Newton Stewart, Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas) but was lovely to pop out to The Ship and The Murray Arms for a drink in the evening and then return home to cook tea. Laurel Bank is very comfortable and has everything needed. To enable an efficient leave before 10am, we packed the car and went for breakfast at The Galloway Lodge.
There were just a few, small niggly bits that meant I could not rate the stay higher. The front door was difficult to open and shut. The lock on the back door stopped working and after a bit of work on it, we got the door shut and did not dare use it again. There was a strong smell of dog in the living room. The blind in the bathroom did not fit the window - it was too short. Could not get the bottom section of the oven to work.

A peaceful and relaxing week in a quiet and scenic location
Gatehouse of Fleet is a modestly sized village, and very quiet as a result. The local facilities were excellent however, with everything we could want. We ate out at two of the village pubs.
An information pack might help. For example, we could understand the recycling bins as they were clearly labelled, but were weren't sure what to do with general waste.
