The location was excellent—it was close to everything I wanted to see in Bourges. I appreciated the extra effort the owner/manager took when I asked if I could arrive earlier in the day and leave my suitcase at the apartment.

I have never felt so unwelcome during a stay in an apartment. The experience was impersonal and sterile. I had four problems when I arrived: a vacuum sweeper was left in the bathroom area, which was rather small and cramped. I was afraid I would trip over it and sent a message through booking.com messenger asking if the vacuum could be removed. (The apartment is fairly small, its layout a bit choppy, and I needed some space). In addition, there was only ONE coffee pod left—not even enough for one breakfast. Finally, there was a huge duvet placed on top of the washing machine, which took up a lot of precious space, which would have been an ideal place to put toiletries. I asked for duvet to be removed as well as the vacuum. Finally, the info left for guests (only in French) indicated that there was laundry detergent under the sink. I could only find what I believe was detergent for the dishwasher. During my four night stay in Bourges, I never received a response from the owner or manager, much less had the requests and questions addressed. (And let me be clear—I never had any contact with the owner/manager or any staff during the entire visit.) I had to depend on carry-out coffee from the bakery—which, in addition to not being very good coffee, was chilled by the time I got it back to the apartment. The apartment was not cleaned during my days there, so the trash accumulated to the overflowing point. I had to ration toilet paper, too. This is not my idea of pleasant vacation accommodations. My not-very-good experience could have been avoided by some simple courtesy and communication. Hospitality requires some human contact in order to make guests comfortable. Oh, yes, in the photo that I included to show the duvet, you see the ONE hanger that was provided.
