Tucked into the country

Singular Shepherds hut by a stream, out the way of bustle of towns or cities, surrounded by fields. Log burner was nice and toasty which the owner had already got started before arriving.

Relaxing stay.

Olwen was super kind and waited for us to arrive at night to do the check-in. She had the log burner running for us, so when we got to the hut it was warm and cosy. There was a river just behind the hut, and at night you could just fall asleep with the sound of nature. The hut is located really well, beautiful views. Olwen makes homemade jam and sells it together with some of the vegetables she grows, and all the money is donated to Air Ambulance. We just loved our stay and hope to return soon. Absolutely loved it.

Perfect in every way

Everything was perfect - down to the great flowers and shortbread on our arrival. Olwen is a lovely host and has thought of everything you might need (including a hot water bottle!) for your stay.

We found it to be relaxing, peaceful and comfortable

Super location, tucked away next to a stream on private land. Very good views from the windows and balcony. The hut is pretty and practical, with every thing you for your stay. The owner Olwen is a really lovely lady, who does everything to make your stay enjoyable. Olwen organised with her brother to open his museum located around the corner for us to find out about the historic events which happened here which included the internment of Irish people after the Easter Rising and other events. His museum is well worth a visit, he (Alwyn) built it with his own hands and funds. He is very happy to share his knowledge with visitors for a small donation for the upkeep.

Peaceful & beautiful weekend in Wales

The shepherd's hut is in a beautiful location, looking out over fields. Very quiet & private. It was very convenient for reaching Bala village & the lake. The interior was as described in the listing.

It's good for a short stay like a long weekend, the limted cooking facilities would be a challenge for longer stays.

We had an amazing time

We loved everything! This place is a hidden gem.Great location, close to Bala lake and other beautiful places in Snowdonia! The hut was exactly what we wanted, situated on a field, looking at the beautiful scenery and even a stream! We wanted self catering and it was perfect for that. Olwen, our host welcomed us with biscuits and fresh potatoes from her garden. She even offered us to use an other fridge if we needed more space. Kitchen area is small but enough to prepare simple meals! Unfortunately we were unlucky with the weather as it was raining most of the time but we managed to make the most of our stay despite the wet weather!

Relaxing few days

The name says it all. Very cosy in beautiful location with stream running down side. Host was very friendly and left delicious homemade cookies. The air fryer was very handy as well as the BBQ that was set up with coals. Only a few miles to town where there was everything we needed. Small but perfectly formed.

Lovely week in a cosy and quiet location

Quiet location but only a couple of miles from Bala. Olwen was a great host and helpful. The chalet had everything you needed - Compact and cosy ….great for a couple . Central to visit lots of places and Bala has plenty of pubs , bars , restaurants and takeaways.

Nothing - it suited our needs and I felt great value for the cost per night.

Fantastic cosy hut in Snowdonia

The hut was incredibly cosy and warm, with a kitchen that’s well-equipped for cooking simple meals. It was easy to find and sits just a short drive from Bala and the nearby watersports centre. Views across the surrounding fields are stunning, and the setting is wonderfully peaceful. It’s also very close to Snowdonia and all the main attractions. Olwen was extremely friendly, showed us around, and answered every question - nothing was ever a problem. There’s plenty to do in the area, and we absolutely recommend this place to everyone. We will definitely return one day.

Too cramped for a couple stay; maybe good for the solo traveller. Lack of breakfast and nearby food facility was a significant drawback as its located 2 miles outside the town of Bala. Becomes a tad unpleasant in the rains.

Cute, cosy and beautiful place

Beautiful little place, very comfortable, exceeded our expectations, everything you could possibly need for a comfortable few days away is provided the linens and towels smelt amazing, very clean, situated next to beautiful little stream with facilities to have a fire so nice to sit out on an evening, homemade buns on arrival which was a lovely touch, Olwen the host was very kind, lovely to chat to and nothing was too much bother! Gave us great information about things around our stay! All round fantastic stay and will definitely be returning 😊 photos do not do it justice how beautiful the place was inside and out

Amazing cabin in lovely scenic area

Great place to sit out and enjoy the view. Scenery is lovely, the beds are very comfy and you may have a visit from the farm dog who is very friendly.

The hut had everything we needed for a few nights away. Very clean and cosy. A shame about the weather as this meant we couldn’t sit outside but we made use of the log burner which made it even more cosy.

A unique setting for a cosy break.

Breakfast was not included. The location was beautiful and Olwyn was friendly and there to greet us with the key. The Shepherds hut was warm and cosy and extremely quaint. I loved the fixtures and fittings and sheep theme! The garden on approach was very pretty and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. Thank you from Diane and Clive Raynor

Location was perfect to travel to snowdon for a day of adventuring , the cabin was well equipped and so cosy for 2 people. The river right outside the cabin sounded lovely & the view was beautiful ..The Stars we’re amazing in the night sky. Bala town is a 5min drive away if you need extra supplies I will definitely be booking this place again on my next visit to wales.

This was a last minute booking with a great price. My husband and I went for a weekend at this cosy hut. Olwen greeted us and was very friendly. Thank you so much for your hospitality and those biscuits were delicious 😋! Such a nice place to stay to get away from everything for a little bit. Diolch yn fawr.

This was perfect for my cycling trip. The hut was amazing and the views stunning. Excellent host and facilities and Wi-Fi decent. I will be back for sure, highly recommend this great find.
