Whanga Bridge House

Location to pub and lovely stop off on our touring on a motorcycle on the forgotten highway. Cosy warm with lots of wood for fire to enjoy also movie selection.

Could do with some windows cleaned lots of cobwebs/spiders so would not be nice in the hotter months . But overall clean and tidy inside e enjoyed our stay .

The Bridge House is in the heart the Forgotten World Highway in the historic "Republic of Whangamomona". We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this well-provided and friendly accommodation. It was restful, peaceful and we enjoyed walking in and around town. Wi-Fi worked fine and TV, as well. Comfortable bed, warm shower and lovely spacious deck. Well-equipped and amply provided with everything you need, including chopped wood for wood burner. And if you do not want to cook? The hotel with friendly staff is just 2 minutes on foot away! We definitely plan to stay at the Bridge House again.

It was difficult to get hold of the host(s) and they never responded to our phone call messages. We waited outside property on the host to hand over keys (as per information provided through Booking.com). After half hour of waiting and getting desperate, we walked round house and found the backdoor open and moved in and made ourselves at home. We couldn't lock up when we left because we did not have the key. We would have appreciated contact from host. We also want to mention, that messages from Booking.com regarding entry to property was delayed. We got entry notification/information on the morning we left! A suggestion: More newspaper and kindling (and smaller pieces of wood) to get the fire going would be really appreciated and a real blessing!

When I contacted the owner to let him know I might be late because I was arriving by bicycle, he wss incredibly kind and gave me a late check-out. I couldn't believe how reasonable the cost was because the house is huge and located in the heart of the Reublic! The owner had the fire all ready to go for me to light, the fridge had breakfast items in it, and the bed was so comfortable. There were also sheep directly over the fence -- they were great neighbours.
