Old Town Gravina di Puglia is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. It is in the running for Italy's 2028 Cultural Capital, and it is easy to see why.
My husband and I spent 2 glorious weeks there, and we could not have had a better experience. It is perfectly located, with everything you need within walking distance.
Ponticelli B and B MADE the experience all the better. The purpose of our trip was to trace my roots, and I was very successful thanks to the hosts of the B and B, Yvonne and Nico. They opened so many doors for us, introduced us to all the right people, and in the end, I left with the documents that I’d hoped for. We were able to locate two addresses of my grandparents and great-grandparents - a very big surprise for me.
I strongly encourage you to book a stay at Ponticelli B and B at 27 Via Ponticelli.
It is a beautifully restored property that was absolutely immaculate. The furnishings were impeccable. The bed was beyond expectations - large ( my husband is 6’3”) and fitted with pristine linens. The space featured a stocked refrigerator, a couch, a loveseat, and a table, with plenty of storage. We were treated to a feast for breakfast every day - including sweets and savories. The espresso machine in the room was a highlight since my husband enjoys many cups in a day.
The hosts bent over backwards for us. Each day, they helped us plan for the day - whether we stayed in Gravina proper or took the many day trips during our stay. Yvonne speaks perfect English, Italian, and Spanish. She went so far as to provide us with Google Maps to our destinations, and she made immensely helpful restaurant reservations.
Gravina is safe and clean. The locals were warm and welcoming. They couldn’t do enough for us.
Nothing! It exceeded expectations. We stayed for 2 weeks, the most we’ve ever stayed in B and B - and we easily could have stayed longer. Nothing was left to chance - Yvonne and Nico’s attention to detail was spectacular!
