Lakefront Escape with Gorgeous Views a Short Trip from New York City!

House was beautiful - even better than pictured somehow. The view was gorgeous and everything was clean and accommodating!

Lovely lake cottage, in the quiet of winter, swans and ducks on the lake. We enjoyed both Pawling and Beacon as well as chilling with the great water view and nice area hikes.

We stayed at Charles' lake house with our older parents and our 9-month old baby, and we all had a wonderful time. The house itself is very cozy, comfortable, and while not large, it easily accommodated 5 adults and the baby (and even short-term visitors). The sun room is beautiful, with a great view of the lake, and warms up quickly in the mornings so we were able to use that space all day (especially on sunny days). The kitchen is small but functional (and really the same size as our NYC kitchen), and there are two eating areas, as well as a lovely outdoor terrace with a table too. The living room has a great fireplace and very comfy couches. The setting is tranquil, right on a quiet and lovely lake -- I even saw an eagle (apparently they are nesting on an island in the lake). We stayed for 6 days and didn't want to leave. It was very relaxing, surrounded by trees, and quiet. The outside stairs down to the house may be a little tricky for folks with walking issues, but my 86-year old Dad negotiated them fine. Charles himself was a very communicative, open and helpful host-- easy to reach, generous with his time and happy to tell us tips about the area and answer questions. He was also extremely accommodating when we had to adjust our checkout time a bit. Staying here was a great experience and we would love to return!
