Villa Athena is located in Kato Gouves, inside a big olive grove and 10 minutes away from the beach. The property consists of a traditional villa, a stone studio, two apartments and two maisonettes. There are two identical apartments next to each other, which you can rent together if you like. The stylish apartment is 65 sq.m. (700 sq. feet), with a spacious outdoor area and a magnificent garden, full of colors, fragrances and local flora. The combination of mild climate and comfort, together with the surrounding olive grove creates a tranquil and relaxing environment, ideal for families and couples. The apartment has two big rooms. The first one consists of the living room and the kitchen. The living room is spacious and has also a couch that can be turned into a bed for one person. In the living room you can also find comfortable chairs, tables and a fireplace. The kitchen is open, with an oven, stoves, coffee machine and all the necessary amenities and utensils of a modern kitchen. Τhe bathroom is comfortable with a bathtub and a shower. In the next room there is the bedroom, with a big double bed for 2 people. We can also provide an extra folding bed for a fourth person. So, the house can host a total of 4 people. There is also a closet, drawers and a LCD TV. There is also a storage room inside the bedroom where you can find the laundry machine, the ironing board and where you can store your luggage. The outdoors of the property is absolutely amazing. A well preserved garden, with a barbecue facility and a traditional stone-oven to prepare delicious meals. A lot of tables with colorful chairs and big sun umbrellas with sunbeds are there to help you relax under the Cretan sun. All this setting is surrounded by our family's century old olive grove, that gives the property a traditional Cretan touch. After all, Cretan olive oil is considered to be the best extra virgin olive oil in the world. The area is open and spacious, perfect for a family with children, in order for the kids to play and be close to nature's environment. Finally, the view towards the sea, the olive grove and the hills around is relaxing, while a walk towards the sea is 10 minutes away. The parking space of the property can easily fit up to five cars.

We can’t emphasis enough how we throughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Athena, a very peaceful and beautiful location. Gouves is a 25 minute walk away, with a small sandy bay. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, and little local shops any anything else you may require. We would highly recommend this property

Die Anlage liegt etwas versteckt (und somit schwierig zu finden) zwischen Olivenhainen. Es gibt zwar keinen tollen Ausblick und der Ort war auch nicht unser Ding, aber die Anlage ist als Basislager sehr zu empfehlen. Alles funktionierte problemlos, sowohl die Wohnung, als auch der Außenbereich sind sehr gepflegt.

We loved this apartment! Its beautifully set up within a small development of apartments and houses with a central garden with olive trees and flowering shrubs (all tastefully illuminated at night). If anything, the listing description is too modest. The newly-installed wi-fi worked really well and allowed us sufficient bandwidth to watch movies in the evening. We found the apartment in a clean and well-maintained condition. The kitchen had a good cooker, microwave, kettle and coffee-maker and was well-equipped for those who enjoy cooking whilst on holiday, although we found plenty of nice places to eat out in as well.About half an hours drive from Heraklion airport, this is a great base from which to explore eastern and central Crete. A hire car is essential if you are to make the most of the opportunities of the area. We went to Heraklion, Agious Nicolaus, Malia Palace, Knossos, the ruined village of Gournia and the cave of Skotiron. Cretan driving is eccentric for those used to northern European expectations, but safe enough.Alex, the site manager, struck the perfect balance between being helpful and always on call if needed but also respected our privacy and didnt intrude. Thanks, Alex! Do ring for directions once you are within a few miles of the apartment, as Cretan road signs can leave some things creatively vague.We are interested in archeological things in general , so Crete represents a fascinating range of possibilities in that respect. Knossos was an obvious highlight for that reason, but the archaeological museum in Heraklion is an absolute must if you want to see artefacts from the Minoan period really well presented in a wonderful modern building. We also found Gournia a really thought-provoking site in a beautiful setting. We hardly scraped the surface of what there is to see in Crete and well certainly be returning.
