Il Balconcino

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the city. The shutters completely block the outside light, so sleeping conditions were excellent. The bathroom was shared with only one other room and was very clean. The room also had a hairdryer and everything we needed. The location is very convenient, only 6 minutes walk from Napoli Centrale, which makes getting to the airport very easy. Communication with Domenico was always fast, and overall the accommodation itself was excellent.

The booking and payment process was unfortunately quite confusing. We initially found the room on Booking.com and were later offered the possibility of booking under different conditions for approximately the same price. For future guests: make sure you compare the final price including tourist tax. On Booking.com, the total price shown already includes the tourist tax, even though you pay this part separately at the property. With the alternative booking arrangement, we agreed on a similar total price, but were then asked to pay the tourist tax on top of it, making the final price higher. This caused a lot of confusion and back-and-forth. To avoid any ambiguity, I recommend confirming the exact amount to be paid in writing before agreeing to an alternative booking arrangement, and specifically asking whether that amount includes or excludes the tourist tax. This is particularly important for longer stays, where the difference can become significant. Check-in also requires agreeing on a specific arrival time (which can only happen from 2:30 pm to 8 pm). This worked fine, but it gives you a little less flexibility when travelling, so it is worth planning ahead.

Cute little room just a few minutes walk from train station; clean, quiet and great value for the budget traveler if you don’t mind sharing a bathroom. Very responsive host.

It is in an old building, which can be charming, but has its associated challenges (e.g. tiny elevator to squeeze into, tricky toilet)

Good location, comfortable bed, clean room.

The old elevator was far too small. The pressure to arrive at the accommodation by a certain time, even though we were travelling by plane. The walls between the rooms were thin, you could hear everything from the next room.
