I feel lucky to have found this

Petroupoli is a very pleasant suburb, high up and quite a way out of central Athens so the air felt much cleaner, and with a nice atmosphere and some lovely views. Mata's house is equally pleasant and peaceful, the room was lovely and everything was very convenient - great kitchen, plenty of storage space, washing machine, good shops and cafes nearby (definitely go to Apolis cafe up in the park for drinks or pancakes and amazing views). It was great.

I would have liked more explanations at the beginning, or an information page... I found myself asking too many silly questions :-)

A stay at Staminas House is a home away from home.

I was welcomed with a warm hug upon arrival. Mata invited me to a home-cooked meal on my first night. She is always ready to help where needed.

It takes time to get to Athens as Antropouli is a bit outside from Athens.

Exactly what you looking for

Máta is awesome host. The house is traditional and very nice. Location is safe and has lots of shops and cafes, bus stop, it's walkable distance to the Petra theater. I enjoyed intelligent attitude and company. Felt like at home

Home Away from Home

In these times where human connection is a rarity, I found Stamatina's house to be a home-away-from-home and even a safe-port in a storm. Mata (Stamatina) is a unique soul that made me feel at home, welcome, cared for and safe. However, what was most surprising was that - somehow - in that house I became tranquil at a time of turmoil. This was exceptional ... just like Mata and her home which we travellers are lucky enough to visit.

Exceptional

The house is amazing and Mata, the owner, is very kind and has a solar type of personality. The house has a very large salon with furniture of massive wood and its walls are decorated by beautiful paintings depicting greek places or greek culture. It also has an indoor garden that is spectacular. It is clean, quiet and elegant. The price is very good for what you get. Mata will help you out with anything and will bake you delicious cookies. I recommend it to anyone that wants to have a nice vacation. Don't be fooled by the fact that it may be a little farer from the center. There are multiple routes of public transport and you can get across the city just fine (A11 or B11 buses to Attiki and then by the Metro green line or bus 700 to Anthoupoli ans then by Metro red line to the center). This way you can also experience the day by day greek life.

Mata is amazing!! we had a great time here. it’s a little way away from the center of Athens, but it’s in a perfect suburban neighborhood. The shared kitchen is spacious and has everything you need. the bathroom and shower is shared but it’s super clean and well taken care of. we loved it here! would stay again!

Superb

Very kind, helpful and hospitable proprietress. We got a lot of interesting and important information about transportation and places worth to visit. Despite that accommodation is not in the city centre, the location have nice connection with buses and have incredible views on the whole city from the nearby hill. We strongly recommend it.

Really the only thing not great is the connection and distance to the city center of Athens, making it a lengthy public transport trip or expensive cab drive (and public transport stops at midnight).

The host was really helpful and nice. The accommodation was clean and well maintained. For my personal interest, the location was perfect - residential area, very far from any tourism related activity at all. Good place to see "the real world" and meet local people

If you seek a place close to Acropolis, clubs or beaches, this is probably the worst possible choice, geographically. You will spend around an hour in public transport whenever you go to city center. Also, absence of any night time public transport makes taxi the only option to get home late night/early morning.

Mata is amazing!

Mata herself is the highest point! She is amazing and welcoming. The house exceeded my expectations, having everything that you need and a cute backyard/garden area for your meals. I felt at home!

Expect to be at your grandma's house

Mata is by far one of the best hosts I've ever encountered. She loves giving, and she will accommodate you in any way possible. The garden is big, and the common spaces as well. I loved to meet different people almost every day.

The mattress, together with very thin pillows, made to rest quite uncomfortable. Also, the time we were staying over there, there was much noise due to the restoration of the house just in front of the balcony. Very noisy street, and very warm temperature.

Quiet place just on the northwestern outskirts of the city, a bit like british "bed and breakfast" style. Easy to find free on-street parking in the vicinity. Direct bus connection to the centre. Very friendly owner eager to help with everything you might need.

The caretaker, Mata was an exceptional host, suggesting us places to taste authentic Greek cuisine and historical places to visit. Best part was her warmth and amazing energy she vibrated. One of the best stays I've had!

Everything was great, you really feels yourself like home. Yeah the location is not a downtown but it’s a really nice district, you can find there everything you need and it’s easy to get to any other locations . No problem to get there from the airport by public transport. The host is extremely kind and helps you in any questions. So I highly recommend that place.

Such a Warm, Warm Welcome!

This place feels like a home from home - Mata and her daughter Lena have been so welcoming and lovely. Nothing was too much trouble, they made sure that I was comfortable, offered fresh cold fruit daily, I just love them! The area is a little out of the centre but reachable very easily by taxi, and as I needed some new pieces for summer I found that the boutiques on the high street have some gorgeous one- off pieces (found a dress similar to one I saw in Plaka for less than half price here and gladly snapped it up!). I really enjoyed the villagey feel and have had a lovely time. For those who want a more authentic Greek stay as opposed to a hotel, you will love it here.

Το σπίτι βρίσκεται σε μια ήσυχη γειτονιά, δίπλα στο πάρκο με όμορφη αυλή ιδανική για χαλάρωση παρέα με 2 γλυκές γατούλες. Οι χώροι ακόμη και οι κοινόχρηστοι πολύ καθαροί και η εξυπηρέτηση άψογη. Η υπέροχη κυρία Μάτα με τα πεντανόστιμα κουλουράκια της με έκανε να νιώσω σαν να είμαι σπίτι μου. Σας ευχαριστώ για την όμορφη φιλοξενία!

Για κάθε ψυχή που θέλει να νιώσει άνθρωπος (και όχι πορτοφόλι), να νιώσει πως θα μείνει σε σπίτι φιλικό, πως θα τον φροντίσουν, θα τον αποδεχτούν, πως θα περάσει όμορφα και στο πρόσωπο της οικοδέσποινας θα βρει άνθρωπο με αισθήματα και όχι ψυχρό επιχειρηματία, το σπίτι αυτό είναι το κατάλληλο . Η κυρία Σταματίνα είναι αρχόντισσα στην καρδιά. Σε ευχαριστώ πολύ Μάτα για όλα, να είσαι πάντα γερή και δυνατή!!
