Enjoyable stay in a fantastic location, but the apartment description was not what we got

The Booking.com description didn't match the apartment as we were expecting a 1 bedroom apartment with dishwasher, kettle etc, but were provided with a studio apartment with less than the facilities advertised. As a studio apartment it was fine but not what we were expecting from the description. We stayed at the Paslais Josephine a number of times before and were always happy with their rooms but it was not made clear on the Booking.com site that the apartment we booked was a privately owned one within the hotel complex. We believe that the issue is with Booking.com not the owner of the studio.

Good location, parking included without extra charge. Room equipped with appliances.

First of all, I had to contact booking customer service twice as the person in charge would not reply. We were travelling to Monaco and didn't even know how to get the keys, do the check in etc. For the checkout, we had to send a message again to ask only to be informed almost the very last minute. For the invoice, we had to send multiple messages including one that we had contacted booking customer service because we were not given one, even days after our departure. During the booking it says check in time 3-6 pm and although we asked for check in 5-6 we were told that they were not able to be there and we had to drive another 15 min to get the keys from another address. Finally, that worked for us because the traffic got us late in arriving. Then, we were looking for the apartment and the welcome sign they told us but finally, the entrance for the apartment is the Adagio hotel. Why did they not tell us that, even when we spoke on the phone with them, we still don't understand. Plus, they did not write the code to enter during the night either, but the hotel's reception was kind enough to give it to us, mentioning that this happens a lot and it's disturbing for them and for us. When we arrived we had to take photos of the whole apartment as they ask for a security deposit but the condition of the lodge is not ok. Dirty windows, broken tiles, rust in the bathroom, scratched surfaces and walls. This image made us feel insecure about our deposit. Unfortunately, our stay at this apartment was not easy going and smooth.

Prima locatie, goed uitgerust appartement, maar matige airco, weinig sfeer

De ligging! Deze was fantastisch om lopend Monaco in te gaan. Paar minuten lopen naar het Casino. De wijk is leuk, levendig met winkeltjes en horeca. Het appartement zelf biedt alles wat je nodig hebt: van föhn tot wasmachine, strijkijzer, strijkplank en zelfs een paraplu. Genoeg kastruimte met kledinghangers, en ook wifi is aanwezig. Wat we misten was een prullenbak. Met de balkondeuren gesloten is het appartement geluidsarm, wat prettig is aangezien er recht onder het balkon op zaterdag en zondag een markt wordt opgebouwd, en dat begint al vroeg in de ochtend.

Het gebouw is wat gedateerd en heeft van binnen weinig uitstraling. De grootste uitdaging was het vinden van de bijbehorende parkeergarage. Het opgegeven adres (4 Rue du Marché) bracht ons via Maps in de buurt, maar nergens was een parkeergarage te bekennen. Stoppen in die straat is vrijwel onmogelijk. Uiteindelijk hebben we telefonisch contact opgenomen met de host, die al in het gebouw op ons wachtte. Zij gaf aan dat we moesten parkeren in “Parking Belle Époque”, maar ook die bleek lastig te vinden. Na meerdere rondjes rijden door smalle en steile straatjes hebben we de auto elders geparkeerd en zijn we te voet de host gaan opzoeken. Via locatie delen is dat uiteindelijk gelukt. Zij heeft ons vervolgens de juiste parkeergarage aangewezen en naar het appartement begeleid. Daarna konden we de auto alsnog correct parkeren. Belangrijke tip voor toekomstige gasten: Als je de juiste parkeergarage direct wilt vinden via Google Maps, navigeer dan naar Hotel Olympia in Beausoleil (Monaco). De ingang van Parking Belle Époque (beheerd door Indigo Parkings) ligt namelijk pal naast dat hotel. Eenmaal binnen in de garage, rijd je rechtdoor tot het einde, maakt daar de bocht naar rechts, en vindt dan parkeerplaats nr. 1071 aan je rechterhand. Als deze instructies vooraf duidelijk zouden worden gegeven, voorkomt dat veel verwarring en onnodig zoekwerk. De airconditioning werkte matig; er kwam wel wat koele lucht uit, maar niet krachtig. Toch was het voor ons gelukkig wel voldoende. De badkamer is klein, en het in- en uitstappen in het bad om te douchen is glad en daardoor wat onveilig – er is geen goede handgreep. De inrichting was niet onze smaak en we vonden het geheel weinig sfeervol. Maar voor wie een praktisch appartement zoekt om te overnachten op een uitstekende locatie in Monaco, is dit een prima keuze.
