Villa Contarini B&B

The rooms were comfortable, spotless, and beautifully maintained, and the villa itself was absolutely stunning. This was the best accommodation of our entire trip through Italy. The owner was exceptional and shared many fascinating insights about the history of Lido and Venice, which made our stay even more special. Thank you very much for your warm hospitality!

Our host, Sven was very accommodating and provided us with lots of information and tips for the area. The room was clean and breakfast was tasty.

We had originally booked the balcony room several months in advance but discovered that someone who books directly has priority over 3rd party bookings so we were bumped which was disappointing. Sven provided us with a different room which was nice and he went out of his way to help make our stay special.

Excellent location close to ferry, bus, town and beach. Air con very efficient.

The bed was not comfortable. The mattress was a thin memory foam type. I didn't sleep well. The WiFi didn't work - I could have mentioned this to the owner but didn't. Here's why... I found the owner to be quite intrusive. The first morning I didn't go down to breakfast. He knocked on the door to ask if I was OK. I made an effort the next morning & found him waiting at the bottom of the stairs for me. He proceeded to hover around whilst I made my selection & as I started to eat. I felt like he was worried I was going to steal the silver!. Then he started to talk, asking questions. Some people like a chat. I do not. I want to eat my meal without small talk. Don't misunderstand, he is a lovely man with an interesting story, I just wanted to eat my breakfast. Next day I didn't go to breakfast. Again, the knock on the door. The fourth morning, no knock. But as I checked out he mentioned it then. I'm sure it's a cultural thing & I'm just an anti-social person, but I don't want to be hassled by the owner like a naughty girl missing breakfast. It made the whole stay uncomfortable. I wouldn't go back.
