The apartment (itself) was clean (unlike the building's staircase which looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages) and there was plenty of sunlight coming in in the afternoon. The kitchen was pretty modern and pretty well equipped. I appreciated that they provided with some basic cooking ingredients (like salt, pepper, oil and vinegar). Quiet at night.

Communication with the agency renting the place was erratic until check-in time, it improved later. Check-in time at 16 but we knew that in advance. When we asked if we could check in a little earlier given there was a curfew from 15 because of the pandemic, we were offered the option to check-in earlier... if we payed 15 euros to send a "bigger" cleaning team, I guess that's the difference between a place run by their owners and one exploited by a rental agency. The neighborhood is a little depressing (no hip little cafés or the bohemian atmosphere of Mouraria, Alfama or even the quirkiness of Intendente or Anjos) and the first signs of touristic value are a good 10/15 minute walk to the area around Graça. All the heating there is is a small noisy fan heater that you have to carry around when one room gets heated but the other is still freezing cold. Last but not least, the kitchen sink was always clogged, and no matter how hard we plunged (the fact that there was a drain plunger under the sink probably means it happens often), it would take a whole night to drain the dirty water, so we ended up doing the dishes in the bathroom sink... All in all, I'd stay somewhere else next time.
