Great location but disappointing in other aspects

Excellent location close to Gloucester Docks with lots of food and drink choices nearby

Bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Towels were old, damp and musty and no switch to turn on heated towel rail (the only heating in the bathroom). Cupboard was full of dirty plates. TV remote didn’t work properly. Road noise was really loud as bedroom is at the front of property. Had a mouse or rat scratching around in the walls during the night. Very creaky floors in other apartment so disturbed by guests in apartment above moving around.

A very unwelcoming, cold stay in which we were grateful we were only booked for one night.

This is a lovely sort of coach house conversion overlooking the docks and so it had a lot of character and charm. It is a nice open space and very central in location, but on a quiet strip.

The temperature was extremely cold with an arctic frost on the day we arrived and it would have been nice to have the heating turned on a couple of hours before our arrival at 10 pm that day because it was FREEZING when we got finally got inside after receiving wrong instructions for which door to enter resulting in us fumbling with numb fingers to insert the keys in what were the wrong door. Once inside, it took a very long time to heat up the flat as the panel radiators get hot but do not give out much heat. Thank God for the small oil heater which we had to move around the flat. The shower was not good at all - a dribble of water that did not get very hot and everywhere smelled of drains as it is a wet room that has not been done very well. Most surfaces were dusty throughout and basically nice as the space itself was, it looked as though no-one really pays attention to sprucing things up before new arrivals. Could have been so much less impersonal and much more cosy without too much effort or expense. A nice space that lacks love.

Lovely apartment but no good if you like sleeping!

On arrival we were really pleased with the apartment- it is spacious and the decor is gorgeous. On closer inspection there are a few elements that need attention which I’ll detail below. Location wise the apartment is ideal, walking distance to the quays and handy being able to park.

The main thing we cannot overlook is the fact the upstairs neighbour was so inconsiderately loud, until 3am! Blaring music, singing, the sound of footsteps and dancing. It was quite shocking to be honest. The property is badly soundproofed and we could hear everything and as a couple on a very rare night away without kids we’d so hoped for a relaxing break and to leave feeling refreshed but in fact we’re going home more tired than before and it’s really ruined our time here. This is also made worse by the fact I sent a message to the property owner letting them know about the noise, to which I received no reply, which is disappointing. Few points about the property that need mentioning are the fact the shower has no pressure (although thankfully we did have consistent water temperature unlike other reviews), and vast amounts of personal property left in cupboards such as cleaning products, jewellery, toiletries, food etc, which is a minor niggle and we could look past as it was a short stay but for longer we’d have needed to clear it to put away our own possessions. Parking is confusing with the numbers on the bays not being relevant to the apartments so we parked in one and hoped for the best. We’d have stayed again if it wasn’t for the noise and lack of response from owner.

Fabulous glouster quays

It was in a fabulous location, loved the decor , clean for the price I would say it was fantastic, even tho we had minor hiccups would definitely stay again as a couple

We parked in wrong parking spot but was explained better later in day so was sorted quickly, we came as a couples with older friends who had the bedroom ,the only disappointment was the sofa bed, very thin mattress and dip in bed made it uncomfortable to sleep, if this was sorted definitely come with friends again, otherwise only as a couple so we got the bedroom lol

Did the job

Location was ideal, the river runs right behind the property which is nice. Bedroom was fairly comfortable though the sofa bed was basic.

Felt grubby like it needed a proper clean, hair on the toilet seat, bathroom had a bad smell the whole stay. The shower fixture was loose so the head fell off and snapped, the host charged me for it without any consideration but I see the shower is a recurring issue in other reviews. Requested an early check in 3 times over the previous weeks before I got a reply.

Excellent location and facilities, nicely decorated but still felt homely.

The location was excellent, very quiet and with a lovely aspect to the water from the balcony. There was everything I needed in the kitchen and the flat was vey spacious.

There was a curb to climb for parking but my car was fine with this.

Great apartment in good location. Clean, comfortable & well equipped. Lovely river view. Fast WiFi.

The bathroom smelled of drains & the shower was dangerous - the water had very low pressure & swapped between freezing and scalding. There was also no hot water for washing up in the kitchen. The lack of dropped kerbs for the parking meant my daughter’s car was damaged underneath. The toilet seat was broken & kept sliding about.

Great one night stay

Very easy to find, a really good location with free on-site parking (no dropped kerb, but we were aware of this before arrival). The apartment itself was really big and looked exactly like pictures. Clean, comfortable and had everything we could have wanted for our stay. We could have stayed longer than one night, maybe next time! Within 10 minutes walking distance to city centre shops, pubs, bars and restaurants and the Quays shopping area. Host was easy to contact and replied quickly and kindly let us leave our car for a couple of hours before and after check-in.

The apartment is in a perfect location for everything you need in Gloucester. Parking is good.

Dirty throughout. The bin hadn't been emptied so there were flies around - not great in the middle of August. The child's highchair was covered in dirt. The air fryer clearly hadn't been washed in months. The main bedroom is on a main road which is noisy until around 11pm then cars start again at 5am. The check out time is between 9-10am. Way too early if you're on a short break. You just want a lay in and not rush to leave. We could have asked for a later check out but didn't think about checking the check out time until about 10pm. The bathroom has no shelves or anywhere to put a toothbrush or toothpaste. Yes minor but with the other points it all adds up.

Ideal location with parking close to all the amenities within walking distance of the city

Ideal location with off street parking very close to all the amenities the city has to offer. The apartment was clean, comfortable and had all the provisions you could need. The hosts were very easy to deal with and the overall experience was positive. A quirky building with charm that beats staying in a sterile hotel with no character.

Given that's its an old building and retains its original sash windows the problem is they allow quite a lot of road noise and the building is next to a stretch of road and the noise from which can be intrusive. Although the traffic died down after 23.00 light sleepers may want to consider this.

Beautiful apartment that feels very secluded and private with great views and on the quays. Would be perfect

It is beautifully decorated and lovely views. It was very clean and managed to feel secluded even though it is close to the centre. It was lovely sitting in the room and watching the bats on the water.

It’s was so hot and due to being ground level on the street, having the windows open didn’t feel safe and there was a lot of traffic noise. There was no fan. Shower was a drizzle.

My wife and i really enjoyed our stay at the river apartment. The apartment is in a beautiful building and has a lovely balcony with a lovely view out over the river and the nature reserve. It is West facing and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. The host was flexible with regards to our departure time which was appreciated.

Some areas for improvement include; the fridge had opened bottles of pop, the flat felt like it needed a deep clean and the shower, as has been noted in other reviews, has very little pressure. However, we really enjoyed the apartment and our stay.

The location was excellent for exploring the quays and docks, which we were very impressed with. Inside the property was pleasant.

The disabled access was really bad with a step up and down into the property. The shower was pathetic. Parking was away from the property with a high kerb and next to a junction.

Loved the decor, plenty of space, good location, on site parking (at the far end of the building, past the antique shop), close to the docks which is a nice area to walk around and has lots of places to eat.

Beautiful position

Beautiful position on a narrower part of the River Severn.

Quite a bit of regular maintenance needs to be done and the cleaning was not up to scratch. Guests need to be informed that the parking is at the end of the building over a kerb and not on the left hand side of it as that belongs to customer parking for the antique shop next door and the poor owner gets quite upset that his customer parking is taken.
