We did not know the three word thing and could not find the place. A person a few streets away knew where it was and gave us directions.

Where do I start?
First thing I noticed when my husband was trying to get the key out of the box, the front window and door could do with a good clean
It smelt old! Every window was filthy!
Bathroom was filthy, last people hair all over the shower tray and floor, no privacy glass in the bathroom window overlooking the owner’s immaculate house and garden
Kitchen worktops had last people’s breakfast all over it, jam, crumbs the lot! Cutlets is in the old sideboard drawer with a filthy felt liner!! Went to use the crockery, needed washed, sink bowl was disgusting as was the cupboard and an old dead spider in another cupboard
We only touched what we needed to, didn’t look in any of the info books (expect looking for a number to complaint to)
I’m no sure that the review I read before we went stayed in the same place!!
The small garden in the back stunk of dog pee as there is nowhere to walk your dog, our dogs had to stay in as the owners dogs wandered round their garden (which they are entitled to do) but came over and barked at ours
The owner should be ashamed of himself letting the cottage out in the state it is and us having to lookout onto his his immaculate home
Was that bad we cut our losses and headed home a day early

Close to St. Andrews but in a quiet, secluded area. Lovely area.
Loved it all.

Ideal location
We couldn't understand how the hob worked. Windows needed a good clean

Lovely cottage, great location.
Unfortunately, there was urine on the floor in one of the bedrooms - presumably from a dog or small child.

Great location. Very picturesque. Close to all the sites of interest and little towns.
On arrival, I had to clean toast crumbs from the kitchen; the living room/kitchen smelled badly of damp and not at all fresh, although upstairs smelled fine. There was excessive dust throughout; especially windowsills, bedroom mirrors, cutlery, tea/coffee recepticle, etc and the stairs required to be vaccumed properly. We could not open windows as they were dirty inside and out and full of cobwebs in the inner workings and outside. So many fruit flies too. I had to buy a tin of 'Raid' fly killer and had to spray the cottage from top to bottom. The electricity cut out quite frequently too. I greatly resent paying £60 'cleaning' fee!

The location was fantastic, beautiful surroundings and a great view. Very close to the coast and St Andrews. The house was very well equipped and comfortable.
There was no sponge or brush to wash dishes with or cloths to wipe surfaces but not a huge deal.

Good location, warm.
Key box did not work, no mobll coverage in the area so we had to drive to a location with reception to call for help and get in.,

Very good location and facilities great. Small garden nice. Very convenient to St. Andrews.
Directions were a bit unclear as the name on the property is different. This led to a bit of confusion.

No breakfast as part of the booking.
Very difficult to get out of the property, exit on a bend with no mirrors on the road to help had to get out really fast to ensure traffic didn't collide.
Couldn't get the keys out of the key box, a man appeared without introducing himself and put a screwdriver into the box to open it so we could get in, couldn't open the box again to put keys back after stay, had to leave them in the door.
water pipes banged which kept people up at night when someone went to the toilet. Shower grouting in poor repair looking dirty.
Kettle lid wouldn't stay down so needed holding every time. Couldn't find any tea spoons. All crockery mismatched. All cooking equipment all over the place. Even though August outside seating area and water proof seats all dirty, garden area very shabby.

The property is good base for visiting saint Andrew's, Crail and the surrounding areas. The linen and toiletries provided were good quality.
The property is not suitable for pets as no where for our dog to do her needs without going on the neighbouring property. Also our sons not being able to access the expanse of grass to play with their fly away ball was not ideal. Property could do with better signage and a lit sign at night.

It was closer to St Andrews than we thought it would be. We have a small dog and liked the small courtyard garden although we would have liked a little grass for the dog.
The bed linen is very good quality cotton. The beds very comfortable. It was exceptionally clean.
I felt all small details had been catered for such as washing up liquid and sponge, bathroom wash goods.
We had a wonderful time. Thank you to the owners.
For me as I’ve already mentioned we would have loved a little grass area for our dog who looked longingly at the surrounding garden.

Clean and quiet. Well furnished and homely
Check out time a bit too early for me. No major sign on the main road to direct people late at night in the dark.

Lovely quiet location and very convenient to get to St Andrews. The house was very warm and comfortable.
The house is managed by Short Stay who obviously look after a number of places but clearly don’t check anything. Grill isn’t working and the oven has seen better days and can trigger the smoke alarm at times; unfortunately the window next to the kitchen area is broken so can’t be opened and the ventilator above the cooker doesn’t expel the smoke sufficiently to stop the alarm going off.
No oven gloves provided so you risk burning yourself so we improvised and also gifted the property some new baking trays. The kitchen is cluttered with a strange assortment of cutlery, crockery, etc and far too much for the place. There is also a very cracked dish which is unsafe to use as it will probably break in the oven at some point. Likewise the small cafetière which is well used and resulted in hot coffee spilling over me and the kitchen surfaces.
The door to the patio/garden sticks very badly. They have taken a bit off the door itself but still sticks when wet. This is quite a serious safety hazard if that is the only exit in a fire and anyone who is a little weak wouldn’t be able to open it.
No exterior light so if you do go outside in the dark you will need a torch (one is provided). WiFi code in the guest book is for somewhere else so you need to check the details on the back of the router and use that to identify the network and password.
There are quite a few comments about the lack of cleanliness. It seemed ok although could be better and cobweb in the bathroom.
The place would really benefit from some deep cleaning, TLC and de-cluttering and addressing some of the safety issues.
The staff at Short Stay are unavailable out of hours as we discovered so you don’t really have much assistance if you are there over a weekend.
