Very friendly staff, good home cooked meals, good portion size, terrace area of Bungalow, canoe rental
Shame no real terrace area at the water front but looks like building work in progress

The family that run the accommodation are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are rustic but very comfortable and clean.
Description is a little deceiving. No beach access and limited spots to relax. They do have a jetty you can jump off and sit on by the lake but it isn't very big. The food offered is simple and a little expensive for what you get. There is a restaurant further up the river but you need kayaks to get there (you can pay for a kayak from the accommodation- half day is 50Q and full 100Q). Would be nice to have a complementary kayak for use so you can explore without all the extra charges.

This is a small hostel built and run by a wonderful Mayan couple with 3 kids. You get to know them as they are all working there. They are very sweet. The rooms are clean ... surprising lack of bugs and mosquitoes for being surrounded by greenery. Free kayaks to use. Food was great.
Ain't gonna lie, I arrived on an extremely hot day and there was no fan in my room. At first I thought it was going to be miserable. But it cools down at night, and the weather changes quite a bit - my last day was downright cold. No hot water in shower - but by the end of the day a bit of cold water felt nice. Beyond kayaking, not a ton to do - but great for relaxing. In the end, all of the minor inconveniences are outweighed by the friendly family.

Comfortable bed with a good mosquito net. Very clean. Private bathroom (but no hot water).
Everything except the room is very expensive. Kayak rental is 75Q. Boat to Livingston is 75Q each way (we heard at hotelito perdido next door it's 50). Food is expensive. The cheapest dish on the menu is chicken for 60Q and it was meat scraps, mainly bones and fat. I've had roast chicken for 25 that was way more honest than that. They really need to add cheaper menu options (and at least one vegetarian would be nice). Unless you kayak or take a boat, you're entirely dependent on them for food (and again, both kayak and boat are expensive...) so it adds up to a big cost. Also the pricing is not transparent. We paid 200Q for the boat from rio dulce to the hotel. But for the way back they charged us 250 (exact same route). When we asked why, they said it was a bigger boat but they didn't let us know this when we booked the transfer. If we had known the new price, we would have taken the public boat. Also we booked the transfer the day before for 11am, and then suddenly one hour before we were supposed to leave they said 11 is not possible, only 12... if we had a shuttle already arranged we would have been screwed. So be careful arranging the boat through them if you need to get places at a specific time. The also need more chill areas. 2 hammocks for 8 people is not enough. When we kayaked around we saw a lot of nice hotels around. Next time I would stay somewhere else.
