"We had a lovely stay at the hotel. The guys working there are really nice and helpful. We eat vegetarian and the cook made varied, healthy and delicious meals every morning and night. The host is real..."

Amazing location right on the river in the jungle. So individual and such a special experience. Felt very remote and we loved it! The bathroom was fantastic- built right into the rock! Loved the sound of the jungle at night. Lovely dogs on the property and helpful staff. We had dinner every night family style for Q80 and breakfast for Q50. Great cooking. You can rent kayaks and the owner will help with booking tours and onwards travel
Communication before hand was a little sparse which made getting to the hostel confusing. You first have to get to Rio dulce and then catch a Lancha boat taxi at 2:30pm. We missed the last public boat, but this was fine as got a collective boat and just waited for it to be full to go for a similar price. It was also a little humid and damp due to no fan but that is part of the experience!

Lovely location and beautiful gardens and scenery all around. Very sweet dogs provided a lot of entertainment. Appreciated the lovely staff for all their work arranging boats, kayak rental, meals, running the bar, offering advice on activities, and generally doing their best to keep on top of everything. The lunch and breakfast were good. Bed was comfy!
They are very understaffed. The staff they had were wonderful, but there were only two people doing absolutely everything most of the time. For a hostel of this size, which also has a bar and restaurant open at all times, it's crazy that there aren't more staff. Despite this, we still got a great service thanks to their hard work, but we didn't feel great about supporting a business that doesn't take better care of their staff. The room we booked had been double booked (and we weren't the only ones), so we got a less good room. We were compensated but it was disappointing not to get what we booked. No hot water - not unusual for the area but it wasn't warm in the evenings so would have loved a hot shower! You can hear everything from inside the room as there aren't any solid windows (also not that unusual), so recommend earplugs. Place could use a bit of love - painting etc.

Beautiful quiet place next to the Rio Dulce. The cabins are beautiful. The staff is really kind and helpful. Excellent value for money.
As it's rather damp, they sheets on the bed could be replaced more often when you are staying longer. It gets rather smelly.

We actually stayed in the owners other place (Finca Tatin) close to Palmeras since there was an issue with a water pipe and a tree. We were promised more comfort for the same price. We didn’t see Palmeras, but Finca Tatin was quite run down tbh. Our little bungalow (which had 2 floors) was very basic which was fine, the shower was so shabby that it looked dirty and in desperate need of some renovation. They also offer a gym and a padel court. Nice addons, It all looked past its glory days though. The location is wonderful, alongside a small river in the middle of the jungle. Despite the shabbiness we had a lovely stay there. The staff very friendly and helpful. The shared space where you can hangout and have drinks and food is really nice (and really not run down at all). It’s easy to book transport and activities and it’s all well organized.
Our bungalow was quite run down, especially the bathroom.
