Clean, basic, fine for a short stay

We stayed for one night, was just off of the highway. Clean and generally like an American hotel. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. It was late on a Sunday, so not too many restaurants were open. We ate at the restaurant next door- it was literally the worst food on our entire trip to France. Not the hotels fault at all, but just a heads up.

Paper cups Paper cups in a supposed 4 star hotel? I don’t think so! And a water fountain at the end of the corridor. Help yourself. And very expensive. Not in the middle or town All in all very disappointing And we’ve had the same issues with this chain In future unless it’s the only option we won’t book again No water in the room Position

My stay was excellent. Merci beaucoup!

The room was very quiet and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The room was very dark which is excellent.

The coffee or the milk was off. However the staff made me a cafe latte from the Nescafé machine behind the bar. The water for boiled eggs took forever to heat and though I left the egg in for 5 minutes it came out semi cooked.

Good stop over, value for money and our 8th floor room was excellent

Facilities at this hotel were excellent value for money. Great for a quick stop over while travelling south. Room was excellent, and staff were friendly and helpful. We didn’t venture in to town.

Nice Modern Hotel

Nice Modern Hotel with friendly staff. Rooms are a good size and beds were comfy. Good choice of breakfast. Unfortunately the roof top terrace was closed but the pub/restaurant next door was more than adequate with helpful and friendly staff.

Convenient and comfortable

The Novotel and Ibis hotels share a building across the street from the train station, with trams stopping right in front. It's a short tram ride into the centre of town or a 20 minute walk. Safe, quiet neighbourhood. Staff were very friendly and helpful; lobby was cheerful. We didn't have the breakfast. Room was small but conveniently appointed. We heard a little bit of train noise (or maybe it was a garbage truck), but very muffled; didn't bother us.

Novotel usually feels a bit more luxurious, with more spacious rooms.

Convenient location, friendly staff, decent room

The location across the street from the train station was very convenient for us; it's a pleasant 20 minute walk into the centre of town, but there are also several busses and trams. We could hear the trains a little bit from our room, but in general the room was quiet. Staff were universally friendly and helpful.

I prefer a firmer bed, but otherwise everything was comfortable and clean.

Great Novotel, easy to get to, on site parking in Saint Etienne

Small Novotel right near to Saint Etienne station and tram stop. Parking available under the hotel (extra payment). It's a Novotel - you get what you expect and a good standard! Staff were superb; ran us up a nice pizza from the restaurant when we arrived late in the evening. Rooms good.

Room was very hot (it was winter but nonetheless hot in the room); opened window during the night to cool down.

I have been several times to this hotel. It has a very convenient underground parking place with direct access to the rooms.

The breakfast buffet at €19,50 per person seems expensive when considering the options outside the hotel.

Disappointing

everything apart the follow up service after having left the hotel (ie after the check out)

I forgot one personal item in my room. Even if I called the reception and typed an email the same day I left the room, indicating the exact item lost and where in the room, and in which room number, I still not have a written formal answer, nor a specific person as reference point. It seems my request was simply neglected, not considered. To be honest the value lost was higher than the price of a night stay!!

Nice hotel near the train station. Comfy bed, spacious bedroom. The soundproofing is not the best but there were not many people staying so it was OK. We didn't try the breakfast.
