We loved learning about the way in which the property was built, the ethics and ethos behind it. The Lough was also beautiful.
The access to music, kids games/ books and the pizza oven made for a very cute family evening.
My children loved the free range children sign (and sometimes acted accordingly) and getting cozy in the tent with the wonderful wood burner fire was a family highlight.

We loved the remote location and yet it was only 20 mins from surrounding towns! We were blown away by the yurt and all the facilities provided.
Nothing everything was perfect!

The setting for the lodge is incredible, as are the very private yurts. Loved the sauna and lake experience, so very memorable. The kitchen was very stocked with cooking supplies, we ended up making dinner for our family so that we could enjoy the lodge.

Bit of a bumpy road to get there

We loved everything about our stay. The yurt was so comfortable and spacious. Lighting the stove in the evening made it so cozy and warm.
The lounge/communal area was clean and welcoming. It was equipped with everything you need! There was never too many people using the area at once, and if there was, it was spacious enough to accommodate.
The owners have really thought of everything. It was such a lovely weekend away! We can’t wait to come back again in the summer months!

The location was remote but easy to get to. We had a driver who knew how to handle the narrow roads and what to do if a car was approaching us. We absolutely LOVED the yurts! Our yurt was called, The Bog and it faced the lake for a beautiful view. The inside was decorated so cute. The bathroom was a unique experience. One scoop of peat for pee and two scoops for poop. There was even a little sink to wash your hands. The main yurt was also fantastic. Every yurt had two cabinets in the kitchen with all the plates, cups, etc. There was a shelf in the fridge with your own shelf. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook with and make meals. You do your own dishes and put them away. There is also a locked cabinet to recharge your electronic/phones. This cabinet has two lanterns, and two small lights for the night time.
It was a chilly night so the owner, at our request started the fire in our yurt. The showers and bathrooms were also very nice, provided towels, hair dryer to use. The showers were enclosed with doors that shut, so it was very private. Also, regular toilets were there too. There are even wheel barrows that are provided so you can wheel you luggage down to the yurts without getting your suitcase wheel dirty. There are games, piano, even a record player to play records. I had ordered the sparkling wine and they had it chilly for us when we arrived.
I must say I loved everything about the Lough Mardal Lodge. It was a great experience to stay here. I will recommend it to everyone going to Ireland. Don't worry you still have wifi. You just have to stay in the lobby area to use it. Stay here you will not regret it. It maybe hard for people with walking disabilities as the paths to the yurts are grass and just a small walk to get to the yurts.

Unbelievable location in total tranquility. Luxury touches and the sauna and lake were just awesome. It’s was my daughter’s birthday and a lovely little touch of a happy birthday banner was added to our yurt.
Apart from responding to requests the staff were lowkey and we were just left to our own devises which we absolutely loved.
An evening around the camp fire with cake and a visit from the staff dog Archie was a highlight. Love how eco friendly and conscious it all is too.
Total winner.
Nothing you can do about this one but the midge were on form when we visited so make sure you bring bug spray and long sleeved clothes.

Amazing place. We had a digital detox with our two teenage sons and we all really benefitted from it. Beautiful place in a beautiful location.
Nothing - loved everything. Would have been nice to know if there were any hikes/walks to go on directly from the property but very minor point.

Lovely surroundings, great yurts and facilities. A very positive experience.
A lot of written information beforehand made it sound more complicated than it actually was, but we had a good and well organized stay.

Lovely stay at Lough Mardal! The Yurt was something different to stay in but so lovely, comfy and fabulous! Really enjoyed it and with no electricity (even though initially was unsure) it was the perfect way to completely switch off. The shared facilities- lounge and showers etc were fantastic and extremely clean. Along with walks along the property, they were lovely and the views stunning!

Clean and private.
Going outside the hut in the rain for the toilet.

Very laid back, everything needed was at hand, got to meet new people and they're pets. Felt like an adventure, while still being very comfortable.
Due to the warm weather and the eco-friendly nature of the communal area, flies were always in the food prep area/compostable bin. Possibly user error, but getting the sauna up to temp first thing in the morning took a while 😅

Amazing location, felt completely secluded but still only 15 mins away from Donegal Town. Shared facilities were outstanding, pizza oven, BBQ, fire pit, extremely well stocked kitchen area, great storage facilities for food items, spacious, beautiful living room with log burning stove, comfy chairs, amazing views of the lake and even a telescope!. Shared toilets and showers were great and very clean, towels provided. Stayed in a yurt which felt spacious even with super king bed and 2 single beds, bed was one of the most comfortable beds we had ever slept in! Lake was lovely to swim in and you had the option to book the sauna as well.
It was great to have a digital detox whilst we were there
to really appreciate the surroundings.
Would have no hesitation to recommend this accommodation to anyone and we would definitely go back.
Nothing that we didn't like - only possible suggestion to make it even more perfect would be the addition of a wood fired hot tub down by the lake !

Location was fantastic, lovely and quiet. We stayed in the shepherd's hut. The place was really well thought out with attention to detail. Would definitely stay there again. Saw amazing sunset over the lake in the evening and at night the moon shimmered on the water making it feel magical.

Such a unique and fun stay. The yurt, lodge, bathrooms and shower were very nice. Fantastic view and atmosphere! Loved it!
We struggled to keep our fire going. Had a bit of a time with the thick wood. But we enjoyed it all the same.

The snug hut on wheels with the warmth of a log stove and thick eiderdown. The solitude, nobody bothers you at all. The view of the lake from the bed through the open door. The communal area was beautiful too
Even having to walk up to the central area for showers and proper toilets was fine once you figured it all out.
