Charming One Level Cottage! Walk to Mirror Lake! 3 easy steps from your car to one of 3 Master Bedrooms w/private baths! An extra kid's bedroom for 2 is attached to one of 3 masters. Newer Furnishings! 2 Family Rooms: one with a real wood burning fireplace and one with a toasty, gas log fireplace! AC, Heat, Computer, Wifi, 6 TVs, Private Setting with Giant, Covered Porch/ Deck w/fireplace and TV, Gas Grill, and Firepit in winter! ALL inclusive and move in ready! All you need is your toothbrush!
Hardwood Floors throughout, central Kitchen connecting 2 family rooms! 2 Giant flat screen TVs with movie library! Most chairs and sofas flip up and lay back for the lazy bears in your family. Games, maps to waterfalls, restaurant guides and golf course locations, info on zip lining, rafting, ice skating, swimming, and more in the area, are in the tourist basket.
At the red birdhouse, the winding driveway takes you up to the hill top private paradise with a winter mountain view, and beautiful N.C. hardwood trees while enjoying the awesome wrap around party deck and giant covered porch! There is plenty of seating on the deck with an umbrella table and chairs, an 8 person picnic table, sofas and swivel cushioned chairs! Fire up the Gas Grill and cook out with the lighted torches, the remote control fireplace and TV , and enjoy an atmosphere compared to none at night!
Inside, the fully equipped kitchen has everything like home: a griddle, waffle maker, crock pot, spices, blender, toaster, baking supplies, paper towels, pots and pans, mixer and more! Giant pantry, Microwave, Dishwasher, Garbage disposal, Electric stove, Giant Refrigerator , two soda and wine coolers , and laundry room with a stacked washer/dryer!
The newer furnishings and freshly painted interior are beautiful and you will love the bear collection throughout the home. Extras there too: Lawn chairs, picnic supplies, movies and games!
The In- town location is just 3 1/2 minutes to the grocery, restaurants, ice cream, and shopping! Walk down the hill to Mirror Lake where you can take the tip free canoe and enjoy the lake! Hike around the Mirror Lake community...lovely any time of year! And there is nothing like hiking to all the waterfalls, and the mountain parks. Enjoy cocktails on Sunset Rock or Glen Falls just minutes away! The location and setting can not be duplicated!
If you insist on working while on vacation, we do have high speed internet, computer, Wifi, fax , printer/copier, a cell phone booster, and desk supplies.
There is nothing like relaxing at 4200 ft elevation in the cool mountains of North Carolina at the Lazy Bear Cottage in the heat of summer; or relaxing in front of the fire in the winter with snow floating down outside!!! Don't miss this wonderful little peace of heaven!

We spend a week in Highlands every summer. We revel in the cooler temperatures and love the nearby hiking opportunities. This was our first stay at this house and we were thrilled with the experience. As others have said, the porch is delightful. Much of the time we were at the house was spent here. The house is equipped with everything you could possibly need.

This home was so gorgeous, spacious yet cabin feeling. We had plenty of room for 3 couples for a wk. And the porch? OMG, never seen one better. Outdoors but partially closed in w/heaters & fireplace to stay warm on those chilly days. Loved Highlands and Franklin. Great shopping and restaurants. Will be back.and Franklin

As a family of 5, we spent a wonderful few days in this home over Christmas and we spent lots of cozy time in front of all 3 fireplaces! Conveniently located close to town and close to wonderful hiking trails. We hiked a different trail every day. The home was well equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen to prepare meals and it was decorated for the holidays. The owners were very responsive to any questions we had. Thank you for a wonderful visit to the Highlands.
