About this cottage rental

Here Comes the Sun is located in Calabash Boom, just a few minutes drive from Coral Bay shops, bars/restaurants, hiking trails, and beaches. It's an island escape a little off the beaten path yet conveniently located to some of the best activities St. John has to offer.

The property's location is peaceful and offers solitude (there are neighboring cottages, but the space itself is quite private). Views are of St. John's East End and the BVIs (Tortola, Norman, Virgin Gorda, and Peter Island). Relax on the wrapped deck watching boats and the ever-changing sky. Sunrises can be spectacular, and at night, moonrises, reverse sunsets, and starry skies can be just as magnificent. At bedtime, fall asleep to the sounds from the bordering jungle.

The cottage has a mini-split AC both upstairs and downstairs, however, the cottage's hillside perch allows for good cross-breezes upstairs.

All water on St. John is collected via rain, so the cottage has a triple-filtered, UV-purified water system for clean water.

The bedroom (king bed) and a second bathroom are downstairs from the main house and private. Bedroom is accessed by external stairs - a common design in the VIs - and lit by solar lights. We also provide umbrellas (in case of rain) plus flashlights.

The deck has a table, chairs, BBQ, and zero-gravity chairs for lounging. There's a sunshade over part of the deck as well as uncovered areas for stargazing. (Note: Most months, the deck sunshade can be removed upon request for better stargazing.)

The yard invites fun critters (deer, iguanas, tortoises, frogs) and there are starfruit, banana, coconut, and papaya trees to remind you that you're on island time.

We provide guests with a variety of beach gear, including beach chairs, beach umbrella, beach towels, mat, floaties, and cooler with ice packs. Occasionally guests leave snorkel gear, but quality can be lacking, so we recommend renting gear from Crabby's Watersports in Coral Bay to ensure clean, working gear and a proper fit. (It's a quick stop and easy returns.)

The cottage comfortably accommodates 2 guests. Traveling with more people? Owners own the neighbor cottage, Summertime Rolls (#1025936), which accommodates up to 2 guests. Email to inquire.

IMPORTANT: A car rental is required, which is standard for getting around St. John and making the most of your vacation. We STRONGLY recommend renting a 4WD since roads are a mix of pavement and dirt. A 2-door Jeep is best for maneuvering/parking. NOTE 1: Guests are responsible for travel to Coral Bay. Schedule pickup of your Jeep upon arrival. PMs are unable to chauffeur guests, and taxi service to Coral Bay is limited. NOTE 2: There are 2 exterior cameras: #1 is on the deck's roof pointed at the BVIs and horizon. Its use is for capturing the view. #2 is pointed at the cottage's driveway to monitor for security/trespassing. Audio is OFF on both cameras.

We loved our stay at this house. The location is beautiful and the hosts were welcoming. The views are stunning and the house has everything you could want or need while vacationing on the island. The house is a good value, a little dated plus exterior stairs to bedroom area, but the many thoughtful touches and useful extras bring the guest experience to a higher level. If you have concerns going up and down stairs you may want to reconsider. We’ve stayed in several houses on the Coral Bay side of the island and this one didn’t disappoint.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The hosts were very welcoming and communication was excellent. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed having meals & beverages on the deck overlooking Coral Bay. Excellent place for our USVI getaway!

What a wonderful stay we had. The house is well appointed, clean and in a very quiet location with lots of privacy. And the views were amazing! At night the sounds of the tropics came alive with tree frogs (I guess). It was all around lovely to spend mornings and happy hour on the deck watching the ever changing sky.
