About this villa rental
Published Rates are for base occupancy of 12 guests, any additional person needs to be requested to Reservation Team at extra cost up to Maximum occupancy.
Magnificent villa designed by the owner who is a renowned architect from Santa Monica, California. He and his wife traveled throughout Mexico for 15 years studying ancient Mayan and Olmec sites and then translated their influence into a contemporary and sculptural work of art following the tradition of Frank Lloyd Wright's Mayan inspired contemporary homes. The villa demonstrates the owner's love of the area and is designed perfectly for optimum ocean breezes with lots of living space.
Dos Jaguares is 5,000 square feet of white and silver marble floors from Durango, Mexico, custom built Honduran mahogany cabinets and furniture, photographs on the walls created by the owners of famous Mayan and Olmec sites transferred to canvas and art deco stylized glass blocks using ocean and sky colors brought from Miami. These art deco blocks are used throughout the villa and are inset in tall columns at the entrance of the villa and also on the oceanside. One of the many "magic" parts of the villa is the upstairs hallway which is composed of Mayan arches inspired by the Palace at Palenque. With the use of intricate lighting, they have a special glow at night, as does the central courtyard with stylized steps and tropical landscaping.
The upstairs Master bedroom is huge, as is the bathroom with a tub you can soak in while enjoying a view of the ocean, or, you can enjoy the fabulous open-air shower. This bedroom also has a large oceanside balcony. The choice is yours!
The upstairs Guestroom has a garden view, private bath and a small outdoor deck to watch the sunset. There is also a second Guest bedroom upstairs with two single beds and two futons. Downstairs is the living room, an extra bathroom, dining room, kitchen, and guest bedroom with private bath. This bedroom has a great view of the ocean and you can walk right out onto the beach! We had 12 people including 3 children under 3. Perfect place for everyone. Amazing views, great snorkeling. Bring beach shoes. Some sargasm, but it was picked up, EVERY morning. Delicious meals were cooked for us by Rosa and her team. You will need a rental car if you want to go anywhere/see anything. 30 minute walk to town, on the beach. The bedrooms have AC, the house does not (the house does get hot, but it was unseasonably warm). Everyone was very accommodating to us and any issue that came up.

We were a group of 9 friends staying at Dos Jaguares for the first week of January. The booking and check-in process went well. The property manager and his team are very responsive and provided all details ahead of time. Throughout our trip, they were able to suggest us activities nearby. Rosa, our maid, is wonderful. She came daily to clean the house and change towels as needed. She also did some groceries and cooking for us which was very appreciated. The area is quiet and safe (gated community). The small beach is great but careful to the rocks and see urchins. Only downside is the limited space and tools for cooking a large group. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience.

I planned a 50th birthday party with six friends at Villa Dos Jaguares, and really can't say enough about how nice it was. We were very grateful to Rosa for all the expert care during the visit. There were lots of really nice touches including carafes with bottled water in all the bathrooms, some snorkel equipment in the cupboards and pico de gallo and guacamole and beer and sodas waiting in the fridge when we arrived. The proximity to the beach was wonderful, the views, the rooftop, the balconies, and the outdoor shower feel particularly luxurious. We rented a car and went to Ek Balam and into Tulum for dinner a couple times. Also good snorkeling right in our backyard!
Stuff to keep in mind, but that isn't a deal breaker for a slightly smaller group, the water pressure in the back bathroom behind the kitchen was very low, so for a group our size we had to share showers a bit. The Queen suite by the front door is naturally musty I think since it's on the same level as the yard, although it's very private.

The space was not ideal for 12 adult guests as the room for 4 was quite small, but it was beautifully appointed and very nicely situated.
