APPARTAMENTO Ruga Giuffa

We had a quick change in travel plans (national rail strike on 11 June) and so arrived in Venice a day earlier and needed a place for one night close to our other booking. This fit the bill perfectly. Everything was as described - no hassles at all.

Location close to all main attractions. Communication with host all relaxed witheasy instructions to follow.

Utensils were not clean, no dish washing tablet, no match stick/lighter to light the cooking stove. The owner didn't respond to queries on whatsapp even though he saw the messages

Great location and very spacious! One very big bedroom and one good sized. A large kitchen where you can also sit together in the evenings. The location is very central - just a few minutes to San Marco and less than 10 min to Rialto Bridge. Supermarkets are close by, as well as a wonderful ice cream parlour on the square just around the corner.

A few tiny improvements could go a long way - and make this a ten star accomodation. First - it's self check-in, which is great, but they asked when we would arrive and the host kept telling me to text when I arrived which was stressful as we were travelling from Austria and had roadworks on the way so that we were later than anticipated. I wrote several times and only then did the host send the code. They could have done that right away and saved us a stressful time - we thought someone was going to meet us and we had to be on time. Second, for 4 people staying two nightd there was only a tiny piece of soap and a single serving of shampoo provided. Some shower gel would not cost a lot but it's annoying to have to go out again to buy it. Thirdly - there weren't any matches in the flat, so when we wanted to use the oven to make coffee in the morning, we couldn't. Again, this costs next to nothing but is annoying if you realize when you want to actually use the oven. The same goes for dishwasher tabs - we had to unload the dishwasher and wash everything by hand or buy a whole package of tabs for only one use. Last but not least - when we arrived we saw that there was a washing machine. We were happy and after jogging we put our clothes in, added washing powder (that we had brought with us) but then we couldn't turn on the machine because the power cord was cut! The listing did not say that there was a washing machine but if you see it in the flat, you assume that you can use it. A sign would have been nice, then I would have washed my thongs at home rather than having to rinse out the washing liquid in the sink. It's all very small things that can be rectified easily - the it is a 10 star experience.
