Very private, spacious, amazing pool terrace, walkable to town, great host with good communication - made us a chocolate cake!

Bed and pillows weren’t very comfortable

Almost everything about the property was perfect: it was comfortable, very well equipped with kitchen tools, had plenty of sunlight, a great bathroom, amazing terrace, and lovely garden! Susana, the host, was absolutely exceptional, friendly and responsive. Parking isn’t possible on the premises itself, but further up the street (about a 3-minute walk away from the property). Funchal and restaurants were perfectly accessible by foot, but keep in mind that you will have to pass by some hills. Although the property is located close to a somewhat busier road, the large distance between the gate of the property and the house itself ensures complete peace at night as well as during the day in the garden.

The only small minus was that there is a bit of a humid funky smell under the sinks in the kitchen and bathroom (only noticeable when you open the cabinets). Something which is probably difficult to fix because of the high humidity.

Bordal House is a beautiful property and has a relaxing pool and gorgeous garden, with fruit in abundance. The apartment was spacious and we loved the outside dining area. It is near some great bars and restaurants. Our host made us a very tasty chocolate cake - one of the best I have had. Thankyou so much.

The microwave was not working. I think that they were going to fix it. Also there was a slight damp smell near the sink cupboard. I should also mention that it is on a very steep hill. Fortunately not too far from the main road. It was good to have the workout. The general relaxing atmosphere, beautiful space and pool made up for all this.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Bordal Houses. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded expectations. The villa was spotlessly clean, beautifully presented, and equipped with every amenity you could possibly need — a true home away from home. The location was perfect, just a short walk to great restaurants, welcoming pubs and scenic coastal paths. Whether we were exploring the area or relaxing at the villa, it felt like we had the best of both worlds. The pool was a real highlight for us especially our daughter. It was clean and perfect size. The outdoor area was lovely, with a peaceful setting where we enjoyed several meals and relaxed in total comfort. Although the owner was away on her own holiday, she stayed in regular contact, checking in to ensure everything was going smoothly and generously providing us with local recommendations. Her thoughtful communication really made a difference and added a personal touch to the experience. There are lots of comments about the hill outside the villa, yes it is steep but as is most of the street in the area. Walking up and down the hills numerous times a day definitely made us feel we earned our treats. We wouldn’t hesitate to return — this villa made our holiday truly memorable!
