Enjoy your morning coffee with amazing views of the ocean and at the end of the day cook dinner on the gas BBQ and enjoy the bar height seating area to catch the sunsets and the best weather California has to offer.

1 Parking space area available for exclusive use and will accommodate a small compact vehicle, making parking at the beach very easy. (there is offstreet parking available in front of the building for larger vehicles) Access to the studio is in the back by your parking space, up an outside spiral staircase.

If you are combining the upper two bedroom with the studio, which makes 3bdrm/3ba two story accommodation, then you can use the indoor stairway between the two floors. (Access is locked and restricted when booked separately.)

Our quaint and comfortable studio can sleep 2 adults , 1-2 small children but we recommend it for 2 people due to the overall size. There is a queen size bed , full pullout sofa in front of the kitchenette.

Kitchenette includes:
Blender, Coffee maker/Keurig coffee maker, Cookware, Dishware, Flatware, Microwave, Toaster Oven, Refrigerator, 2 Portable burners

1 full bathroom with Shower/tub combo.
Patio has bar height seating area and BBQ to enjoy the amazing views and sunsets.

Also provided in the garage is the free, shared laundry facilities - shared with Surfrider 1 and Surfrider 2

You will find a host of beach equipment including beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and beach toys.
Pac n Play available on request.

Windansea Beach has some great restaurants, bakeries and unique eateries just minutes walk from your front door.

Enjoy the Farmers Market every Sunday morning with lots of fresh, organic foods and hosts of crafts.

This studio can be combined with the 2 bdrm/2bath condo just below it for a 3bdrm/3ba two story condo. Or rent all three units to sleep 10 - 18 people.

The space is nice and reasonably clean. We were comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and responsive. But the winding staircase is extremely difficult to walk, especially if you're carrying a suitcase.

The property was as described. Good ocean view, close to restaurants, clean, everything worked well. we appreciate the details like luggage racks and laundry baskets. Note that the spiral staircase is 25 steps and difficult to get baggage up and down. Also, the parking lot is small and require some maneuvering to get into even with a Nissan Altima. There is street parking. Would recommend this place.

Great communications - Janine gave me early access to the studio which was terrific because I had an early morning flight arrival. She was very quick to respond to a couple questions I had and very quickly sorted out a minor problem. The view from the balcony was lovely and the building is literally steps from the beach, and the sea breezes and the sound of the ocean are lovely. As other reviewers noted, the spiral stairs are a bit tricky to navigate with luggage. also worth noting that the only table to work at or eat on is the outdoor high-top - not ideal for working or having a meal. During my stay there was construction in the building across the street and also 2 doors down - and workers start early and worked through the weekend - not within the owners control of course.

Stunning view of the ocean at Windandsea Beach. I am a widow who traveled alone from the. Virginia coast to visit my son. It was the perfect amount of space for me and to have him visit for dinner and cocktails on the balcony. Im not sure it would be fair to the owners to crowd this small space with more than two guests. Janine was very accommodating to me. I cant thank her enough for her hospitality. I strongly suggest that you pack light or use a duffle type suitcase to manage the small spiral entrance steps. That worked well for me as the steps are narrow. Be mindful of the guests beneath you. There are guests staying in two units below you. Water temperature and pressure were great. I could go on. My only hope is that I can get to stay there again. My husband and I were so pleased with our stay here. Our studio apartment was clean and had all we needed. We ate breakfast and lunch on the balcony with a fabulous view of ocean. It was a 3 minute walk to the beach. The Wind and Cave Beach was so spectacular. The neighborhood was quiet. We had a space for our car rental. Our hosts Janine and Chuck were beyond helpful and friendly. I hope to return with other family to occupy the lower units too.

We had a great time. The location was amazing and it’s not nearly as crowded as the main beaches. Very quiet at night and close to core La Jolla and Pacific Beach for restaurants. About a 25-30 minute drive into downtown so still accessible to other parts of town. The penthouse had plenty of room for 2 and we were able to fit a small SUV in the parking spot. Janine was very proactive in communicating us details to check in. Would highly recommend!

I greatly enjoyed my stay here. Perfect location, with a block's walk to Windansea Beach and an amazing view on this penthouse's deck. Fantastic views overlooking Windansea Beach, just half a block from the beach. Top floor unit (two others below), accessed via spiral staircase in back, easily enough for our family. Main bed was very comfortable memory foam, queen size I think, with very nice comforter and linens. Sectional couch bed was roomy enough for a teen and firm. Kitchen area very small but functional, full size fridge, no stove, but with a microwave, toaster oven and large induction plate for cooking, along with a set of very nice quality plates, bowls etc. Plenty of clean, very nice quality towels. Plenty of hot water, very good water pressure. Very quiet at night. Windows on all sides for good cross ventilation, there was also an AC unit which we didn't use as the temps were perfect day and night. Go to sleep to the sounds of the surf! Off street private parking space, very snug even for a compact car, but great to have, as this area so close to the beach is very popular. Lower units have more accessible parking. Swimming at this beach was great. Not nearly as crowded as those near downtown La Jolla and rated as cleaner by agency websites. There is a small gourmet type grocery store just four blocks away, very nice. Very few restaurants close by, but easy enough to park in downtown La Jolla (at least we had no trouble at this time of year), and you could walk there (about 1.3 miles north). Some very appreciated amenites are washer and dryer access and beach supplies- chairs, umbrellas, beach towels. Communications with the host were excellent and speedy.

We arrived at airport late in the evening and couldn't access address on VRBO. I texted the owner for the address and she promptly responded! We would definitely stay there again.

The property is ideally located, literally steps from the beach. The hosts could not have been more accommodating. They let us keep our bikes in their garage for an extra day. The place is definitely small so would not recommend for three adults but one adult and two kids fit great. Our only issue was finding a dirty diaper under the bed - apparently from the prior stay.

My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at this quaint and charming property. The home is well equipped with everything you could want including extra towels, soaps, paper products, as well as fully stocked kitchen for your meal prep needs. The view from the third floor balcony is truly outstanding and a wonderful place to watch the sunset. The entry through the spiral stairs did not pose an issue for us, although the rear parking access is a little tight for larger vehicles, however there was plenty of street parking available, so it was not a problem. Great walk ability to a number of restaurants, shops and some nice local bars. We highly recommend jumping on one of the rental scooters that always seemed to be nearby to check out the town! We would definitely consider staying at Surf Rider again and recommended it to others. Thank you to the very helpful hosts!

This was a nice little top floor space. It had a nice view of the ocean with an outdoor deck that you could sit in and enjoy the view. The beach was only a couple hundred feet walk away. The stairs heading up to the room were a little tight carrying a full-size suitcase, but if you know that heading into it’s fine. We were able to fit our intermediate size suv in the parking spot, you just have to remember it’s easier to fit into if you enter the alley from the east side. We would definitely stay here again.

Surfrider penthouse is a sweet place! Water view for sunsets! Beach towels being provided and beach chairs - nice to have. Yes - the other reviews r accurate that the parking space is for a compact car but there is ALWAYS street parking right outside the front door! Yes - the spiral stairway is the only access but it’s super easy. This studio is private and charming and set up so incredibly well with a small kitchen- everything u could need is here or provided. We will be back for certain.

We had a great stay at Surfrider Penthouse thanks to the close proximity to Windansea beach (1 block) and 3-5 minute drive into the village for dining and shopping. The unit itself had a great patio which we enjoyed throughout the afternoon and into sunset! Perfect spot for the two of us!
